In light of the recent chiz thread....

All of the DC's under Tubs were puppets.

Agree or disagree?

Somewhat agree. From talking to former players under him, he was pretty hands off during the week, though. Gameday was a different story

John Lovett
Gene Chizik
David Gibbs
Will Muschamp
Paul Rhodes

IDK... Chizik, Boom, and Rhodes all got head coaching gigs... Gibbs is the DC for the Houston Cougars, i think.... not sure on Lovett... last i remember he went to Clemson, but that was a loooong time ago.

Puppets for the most part. Especially Chizik.

I liked Rhodes when he was here.

they definitely weren't puppets... if that were the case, Texas Tech would've had good defense... but they didn't... in fact, they were horrible on defense.

Muschamp was a heck of a DC... by the end of the 2007 season, he had that defense playing some absolutely lights out football. Chizik was good as well, but his style of defense just isn't as effective against today's offenses.

Everyone says that about Chiz's D, but I don't agree with it. He preached speed on the ends, which would counter the spread O's. His problem was lack of recruiting on D. Our LB's and DB recruits under Chiz (HC) were the worst in school history.

i think what we're doing now defensively is so much more effective against current offenses... EJ is more multiple, is able to easily adapt to different offenses b/c of the hybird position and heavy rotations, and has an array of blitzes/pressures.

Not necessarily..tell me the last time TTU had a defense worth a damn.. Tuberville I'm sure knew defense doesn't win at TTU

Ruffin McNeil had some decent defenses towards the end is the leach era... way better than the dumpster fired Tuberville had.

So all of them are in "lower" positions now? Muschamp soon to be fired .....
