Auburn won on the road against a ranked team and led most of the game. They were not perfect, but their win is better than any team in the SEC other than Texas A&M, Georgia, South Carolina, or LSU.

I think that all of the harping about how bad they looked needs some perspective.

College teams are not going to dominate every opponent. The opponent has something to say about what happens too. Auburn played well enough to win. I have every reason to think that they will step up when they have to and give your team a good game - if not beat them.

I have seen LSU held to this unreasonable standard over the years by fanbases from schools that throw parades if their team wins 9 games. It is silly.

I am glad Auburn won that game. It would have been bad for the SEC if they had not. I'm impressed.

EDIT: One other thing, we need to stop judging college teams in games that they WIN by how we think they might look when they play some future game later in the season. The season if full of ups and downs and kids focus on games in different ways. Also, teams come together and fall apart over the course of the season. We have no idea what Auburn will look like against Alabama in late November. They might improve vastly just like they did last year after the LSU game.

One game at a time.

All good points. Regardless, they will be tough for us to beat in JHS.

Absolutely. Playing Auburn at JHS will be very hard. That is a brutal crowd.

Auburn will be fine. They might not go undefeated, but they won on the road against a ranked team. Can't ask for much more.

Looked like a typical LSU game...may not have been pretty, but W's are never ugly.

Almost the only reason we almost lost to the almost worst team in the almost worst conference, IMO.

I honestly dont think any team in the west goes undefeated this year. AU showed some grit and most importantly didnt implode and put themselves out of the game when they had every reason and opportunity to do so. thats the only thing that impressed me about this game. malzahn better be more willing to take what teams are giving him in the future or this could easily be a 3-4 loss season for us. we dont have the defense to get into a struggle like that with a lot of SEC teams.

Yep, and that is probably why I am defending Auburn this morning. The SEC Rant has a tendency of disparaging every victory by other teams that is not a complete domination and 5 TD win. It is a stupid standard and it dismisses the quality of the opponent - especially on the road.

When LSU played Wisconsin, before the game all of the media and opposing fans were saying that it would be a tough game and if LSU were to win, it would be a quality win over a strong opponent. LSU wins and because they looked bad for a half, they are dismissed completely. The fact that they came back from being down 24-7 and have not given up a point since in the last 9+ quarters outscoring their opponents 108-0 is forgotten because a very young team got down to a ranked opponent initially.

According to the critics, LSU's season was defined and predicted by the first 33 minutes of play. So, even though they came back and won, it doesn't matter.

I think that people have an agenda.

Auburn did fine. They won. Now, they move on. That is all that matters.

This year is different than any other year, though. Instead of computer's determining who goes to the playoff, you will have human opinions determining whether that was a good road win or not. I think it will be determined later on in the year whether it was, much like UA v WVU and LSU v Wisky.

No undershirt at all for big games. Just the vest, and maybe pants. Maybe

This was predicted as a possible upset before the year even started. Even though I think K-State exposed some flaws, the fact that Auburn went in there and came out with a W speaks more positive about them than negative.

Computers were never the sole determiners in the BCS. I'll miss them to the point, although they were handicapped at times by not allowing for margin of victory(at least on a sliding scale). I agree with LG about WVU, WIS, and KSU. The worth of those wins should be reflections of the aforementioned teams year long performances in the end.

It was a good win. Auburns O looked off all night but I never got the feeling that they were gonna lose the game.
I think they completed every 3rd down conversion in the 2nd half. Pretty impressive considering they played behind the chains for most of it.

eta Credit to Kstate for having the want to compete.
