Does that nullify the Sugar Bowl win since Alabama beat West Virginia?

If we beat Alabama in a few weeks, we'll technically be the '09, '11, and '12 National Champions.

And we beat Florida in 2008 so we're technically national champions that year too. So Ole Miss has won 4 of the last 6 national titles.

You've been here long enough. You should know that the transitive property doesn't work in college football, especially across seasons.

Nick Saban has nullified the Sugar Bowl:

"Nick Saban said playing OU last year had to convince team 'getting them to try to play in consolation game'"

"Nick Saban said playing Utah in 2008 had to convince team 'getting them to try to play in consolation game'"

That does parallel his reasoning.

Same thing happened to LSU in 2011. Consolation games are tough.
