UF has: 5 sacks and 20 QB Hurries through 2 games against 66 passes thrown, and about 75 drop backs.
UF has: 15 passes broken up and 4 INT in 66 passing attempts against.

Alabama has: 7 sacks and 11 QB hurries through 3 games against 101 passes thrown, and about 120 drop backs.
Alabama has: 8 passes broken up and 0 INT in 101 passing attempts against.

So against somewhat similar competition, UF is either sacking or hurrying the QB on 25/75 opportunities, or 33.33% of the time, and Alabama is sacking or hurrying the QB only 18/120 or about 15% of the time.

When the ball is in the air, UF is making a play or deflecting the pass 19/66 or 28.8% of the time. UF is also only allowing 50% completions this year for about 6.27 yards per attempt.

When the ball is in the air, Alabama is making a play or deflecting the pass 8/101 or only about 8% of the time. Alabama is also allowing a 60% completion percentage and they are averaging 6.53 yards per attempt given up.

One thing though, Alabama hasn't had huge busted coverages like Florida gave up to Kentucky last weekend.

Alright then. That's a lot of numbers. Obviously Alabama's secondary isn't the strongest part of it's team so you probably just could've said that.

West Virginia's and Kentucky's passing offenses are not similar competition.

I just thought the stats were interesting. They never tell the whole story, but since it was football related and this is a football board and the game is next week, I thought people would want to discuss it.

I'll go post it on the soccer board I guess...

Also - the majority of our pass attempts against were WVU, whose scheme was mostly to get the ball out quick on short screens/bubbles/crossing routes, meaning there is roughly no chance to get a rush.

West Virginia could be terrible due to defense and running game, but I think it is pretty clear they are back to being a high level pass and catch team

You are right. UK has the better QB probably.

And yet you've given up three passing TDs in one game while Alabama has given up one in three games.

Also WVU is a much better passing attack than Kentucky.

West Virginia averages 8.92 yards per attempt - 7 TDs
Kentucky averages 8.82 yards per attempt - 5 TDs

West Virginia throws it a few more times a game than Kentucky, but the offenses both throw the ball a ton.

Yep - one is just better at it than the other one. Kentucky also waited back and threw a lot of long throws. Not nearly as much quick stuff (even though their offenses come from the same tree philosophy wise).

Yeah I will concede that WVU has a better passing offense. But not like, worlds better. They're both solid in that area. The stats back that up.
