CLEMSON, S.C. -- Clemson safety DeAndre McDaniel has been arrested on charges he covered his girlfriend's head with a comforter and began choking her.

A warrant from the Central Police Department says McDaniel was charged with aggravated assault and battery Saturday.

The incident report says a woman identified as McDaniel's girlfriend said the sophomore also punched her in the head, face and chest, and pushed her down a flight of stairs.

The report says the woman was treated at a hospital for a cervical sprain and contusions.

Clemson reserve linebacker DeAndre McDaniel has been placed on "deferred suspension" for the 2008 season. He will be allowed to compete for the Tigers as long as he meets the requirements of his pre-trial intervention program.

McDaniel was charged with a misdemeanor in June for his involvement in an altercation with his girlfriend at the time. After a review of the case, solicitor Bob Arial decided to place McDaniel in the PTI Program.

Clemson wide receiver Joe Craig was involved in quite a troublued scene with a fellow track teammate, Marlena Wesh, ....
Members of the track team had a pool party and boys will be boys as a Super Soaker was used to wet some of the girls. Well Ms. Wesh did not like this and a heated discussion took place between Craig and Wesh. After the pool party, teammates sought a resolution amongst the two at the apartment complex where Wesh lives. The apology session did not work as at some point, Wesh began swinging a razor blade at Craig and cut him pretty badly on his left arm. Craig after cleaning up the wound in a nearby bathrood became enraged, broke off a curtain rod or towel rod and sought revenge. He went back to Wesh’s apartment, beat on the door and as she opened it hit her over the head with the rod and continued to hit her while she was lying on the floor. Needless to say, a bloody scene due to his deeply cut arm and her gash on her head.

The Charleston Post and Courier reported Thursday that Craig was served with an arrest warrant Wednesday on charges of criminal domestic violence. Police were called to a university apartment early Sunday morning at which Whitney Fountain, a Clemson track athlete and the mother of Craig's son, told officers Craig had struck her.
