I thought this was the strength of our team. I thought we would shut down their running game, we didn't. They bowled us over in the 2nd half. I thought we would get pressure on Thompson; we rarely did and he had a banner day passing for 271 yards and 3 TD passes, 1 INT.

I knew that Pruitt didn't have the players he needs for a championship defense especially in the Secondary but I thought our front 7 would play a lot better than they did.

Chris, I know this is the perception but I really don't think it's factual. While it's true that Georgia for the most part has top 10 recruiting classes, the product that is fielded is not top 10 in terms of talent or experience due to high attrition for a variety of reasons. Also Georgia has not recruited well in general in either the Secondary or on the OL for a long time.

Often games are won or lost in the trenches and yesterday vs SC was no exception. SC had 9 more first downs than Georgia, had more total yards, scored TD's while we are kicking FG's and won the game in spite of 2 TO's while we had none; we got only 3 points out of the 2 TO's.

I can buy your response.

But still Ray Drew is a five star and the entire defense are top rated recruits... Know how many teams would kill for that? Pruitt might have a major malfunction

My first post on this board was questioning the defensive line, particularly inside. It's not very big and it's not very deep. We weren't deep even before we lost Taylor and Moose Johnson, and Mayes hasn't played yet. A pass rush that is dependent on speed from the edge will only get you so far if the quarterback can always step up in the pocket. Throw in a wet field to slow the edge guys down, and you have a problem.

I haven't figured out your obsession here.

Our secondary does not

But he was a god two weeks ago. This is all reactionary. It will work itself out.

USC blocked well, but they were allowed to grab jersey all game. If they called it equally, I'd have no issue, but that was not the case...

BOTTOM LINE

LISTEN DIPSHIT

Dawgs have the talent on defense that 88% other teams do not.

Ray Drew isn't even a starter on the depth chart as a Senior. Frankly, Ray Drew has been a big disappointment. And that's the thing. Even when we do get a rare 5 star player, they too often end up being duds.

Are y'all saying the Dawgs need better players on D? Anybody can coach D-fence with the right guys playing for him.... guess that's what Pruitt proved last year.

In the secondary? Yes

While true, recruiting is a significant aspect of great coaching; just ask Nick Saban. Only time will tell if Georgia is able to recruit as well on defense as FSU has. And there is a difference is top 5 vs top 10 classes. Those extra 4 and 5 star players are often the difference makers on both offense and difference, Cam Newton being exhibit A.

You cannot have the best player in college football at every position.

Pruitt has not recruited well so far at UGA.., Grantham & Martinez were getting better players if you follow stars.

But I figure you'll give Pruitt credit for evaluating talent better.

So Pruitt walks into the worst defensive team GA has ever had and is expected to turn it around in less than a season? With freshmen...and guys that were behind the starters from last year ?

Okay....

Obviously it's too early to tell but I damn sure didn't like the zone coverage we played last night with DB's giving a 10 yard cushion to receivers. The only thing I can figure is Pruitt has no confidence in the ability of our young DB's to play tight coverage so he was playing scared and trying to guard against big plays which was a huge fail.
