The decline of the Big 10 puts an end to any argument that Mizzou made a mistake by turning down the Jr. membership that the Nubs jumped at.
The SEC trumps the Big 10 in every area! SEC teams win. The travel destinations are much better. The money is better and the SEC network is a hoot.
The Big10 conference is looking like the region in general and that isn't good. The decline is obvious and it's only going to get worse.
Mizzou made the right move, be Thankful!

I am so happy with the move I might even get myself at Hank Job at the local Chinese massage parlor...but seriously the SEC rules. Funny now I do not really care much about the NFL it is just a let down after Saturday football.

Yes the SEC rules. I never, ever, ever wanted to go to the Big 10. Nothing about it appeals to me athletically. Every thing about it is boring. Other than academics I never understood why people wanted the Big 10.
The SEC is the place to be.
Only thing I would have liked as much as the SEC would of been to keep the old Big 12 like it was and Texas could have left and been replaced with someone else.

I came around to love it last year. Has anyone noticed that since we left its so much different watching Big 12 football games. It really looks little league compared to the great establishments we play in now.

Good god!! Look at this blurb from this article...
quote:
The SEC Network, which launched Aug. 14, will broadcast 100 men's basketball games, 60 women's basketball games, 40 volleyball games, 25 soccer games, 50 softball games and 75 baseball games. SEC schools are expected to gain a slice of the pie.
How big is that slice? Alden isn't exactly sure.
"We did budget $0 for the SEC Network this year," Alden said. "As far as what do we think it will be, we're pretty confident it will be more than zero. I'm not trying to be flippant, but what that number is going to be, we don't know for sure."
The launch of the SEC Network and the stadium arms race have brought the conference autonomy topic up to the forefront.
On Aug. 7, the NCAA granted the Power Five conferences autonomy, which gives the conferences the ability to self-govern and make their own rules.
The SEC gives an equal cut of its revenue to each of its 14 members, unlike the Big 12, which divides its money unequally among its 10 member schools.
Missouri brought in $76.3 million during its second season in the SEC. The most Missouri earned in the Big 12 was $25.4 million in 2010.

The best we did in the big12 total was closer to $50million as far as total revenue. I think that $25 was football only.

I think you are correct.

76 million in revenue is great and best of all it's just the beginning. Once the SEC Network money kicks the first year, the baseline is going to be an additional 20 million+.
The 2011-2012 year was the outlier at 50.7 million, much lower than normal, as we agreed to forfeit most of our media revenue to leave that wretched conference.
For 2010-2011, we generated just over 59 million.
For 2009-2010, we generated almost 56 million
For 2008-2009, we generated almost 56 million
