YPSILANTI -- The Eastern Michigan University football players facing misdemeanor assault charges aren't allowed to participate in any team activities, or be on campus as university officials investigate the situation.

While Darius Scott, Quincy Jones and Jarockeis (Jay) Jones remain on the Eagles roster, the players aren't allowed to sit in on team meetings, travel with the team or be on the sidelines for practice and games.

"All three individuals were suspended from the team indefinitely once we learned of the situation," vice president and director of athletics Heather Lyke said. "In addition, the three will not be returning to campus while the situation is investigated by the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards. We are extremely disappointed about this. We take allegations of criminal activity seriously and expect our student athletes to meet high standards of academic and personal conduct."

The three missed EMU's first game against Morgan State, and weren't on the depth chart released Monday by the Eagles for their game against Florida.

Eastern Michigan travels to Florida without the suspended players Friday afternoon.

The suspended players are each facing a single misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault from an incident that occurred at 12:49 p.m. Aug. 29 at Huron River Drive and LeForge Road in Ypsilanti.
