A few observations. Not gonna go full retard with a Greg McElroy special soooooooo....being the first week is kept in mind as well:
1. Whatever Alabama has been paying the refs these past couple of years, it's been upped by a considerable margin this year. Some of those calls were absolutely awful. I really don't give a shite cause I gump hard. Penalties and VERY favorable spots/calls helped Alabama considerably.
2. Ole Miss has improved a good bit from last year. Defense hits harder. A very physical team overall. I like the WR corps. God, Bro is awful. I don't care about the 2nd half, he's gonna get eaten alive by a Big 3 defense if he doesn't break some of his habits. Regardless, Ole Miss is gonna be a stiff game for any team in the West, like it or not.
3. Worley gonna Worley. I REALLY like what I've seen from Tennessee in the first game (even though it's just Utah State). They don't look soft anymore and Oklahoma will really show where this team is at. Receivers dropped a few balls but nothing really all that bad. Line play was good for the most part on both sides, so I don't really think that "no returning starters on either side of the trenches" label is gonna hurt them all that bad this year.
4.Gurley
This really is the year of the running back. The SEC is SOOOOOOOOO stacked full of em.
5. There were times during the Wisky/ULSU game where I swear I thought I was watching some sort of effed up ripoff of 1/9. It got that bad for both teams at some points during that game. But, needless to say, classic LSU. Classic Miles. I saw flashes of the Hatter towards the end of the game. Does he make a return this year maybe to compensate for his young team? And those DBs get away with murder I swear to God.
6. Hogs going in the right direction. He may not get all the 5 star talent and freak athletes out there, but once his system is in place for a while there, they'll have a stable program and will be more stable than they were under Petrino who had them actually winning 10+ for a few there. Oh and I almost forgot. Bert is fat
7. Auburn is the same. Gus Bus got new tires and an oil change during the offseason and that's about it. I saw little to no difference in their style of play or their production on both sides except maybe a little more fluidity within the offense. Defense definitely manned up after first half and I actually think that was very apparent last year. See the Bama and A&M games. CA-P is a beast and so are the receivers. Looking forward to seeing the A&M-Auburn game.
All in all, my body was not ready for this first week of the season. HOWEVER, it was the most exciting I've ever seen in a while, probably ever. I can't wait to see what this season holds for us.

Maybe, but you don't speak of this in public. The REC is after you. Good luck surviving the night arse hat.

Did you see the unsportsmanlike call on the WVU guy on the sideline? Good call or no

Not at all It's debatable but still one of the thousands of calls in that game that made you believe this wasn't just any 'ole handshake:

I noticed that too.
No wonder Saban wanted a raise. He needs compensation for what he pays the refs out of pocket.

Really enjoyed the post. Agree except I didn't see Tennessee but I knew they wouldn't be down long. Glad they are hopefully back.

How many points are scored in the A&M-Auburn game?

Good post. As for us, we still have a ways to go but we're further along than I thought we'd be. Our Left Tackle went down tonight and that's one position we can't afford to lose anyone. Hopefully he's ok.
We didn't really sell establish the run like I wanted to see but I think that's because USU was confusing the hell out of our oline and RBs with some of the weird defensive formations they have. I also think we may not have shown anymore than we had to in the passing game - Pig was shown a lot (there's a lot of tape on him from last year ) but North, Pearson, and Malone weren't featured the way I expect they will be in the future. Maybe keeping something back for OU.
Worley just straight up dissected USU with pure efficiency. He has faults and isn't the kinda QB that makes anyone go 'wow' but he did a helluva job picking them apart mechanically. 13 completions in a row is fantastic.
Should be an interesting year for all of us.

Eh, you learn to live with it. You just have to keep extra booze on hand.

Sec west is absolutely loaded. There are going to be good teams that lose 4-5 games.

UT-Utah State didn't reveal much...except that Utah State had a rebuilt OL that could be mistaken for a turnstile.
US had a couple of athletes with heart and not much else. WRs dropped balls...whenever Keaton could launch one accurately. Night day difference between talent levels.
I do think UT will feel the pains of the dearth of OL/DL depth and experience when they face kids their own size. US picked a nice check $$ to help their program....UT got to compete and get young players valuable snaps. Injuries on the OL/DL will be hard to overcome for UT...but I noticed the UT OL walked off on his own power last night.
Jones has UT going in right direction and has been in every recruits ear worth talking to. UT is a tough place to recruit since a HC has to sell out of state kids on leaving home. Next year UT will be much improved and the east will start to rise up. But as a whole...the SEC is getting way tougher and no one can afford to miss out one year in recruiting or sign kids that just don't work out.

srly? Who did they throw the flag on? The guy on the sideline or the guy falling down inbounds?
