Why do some people want to give less weight to the early part of the season?

watching the replay of last year's SECCG on SECN and Gary is inexplicably complaining about how the BCS doesn't reward teams for improving. Why in the hell should it? Isn't a loss in September still just as much of a loss as one in November?

No. It sometimes takes teams a few games to gel. They might have a new coach or new QB. Games late in the season are always more important when judging a team.

and why shouldn't that be held against a team?

I know where this is headed.

it is.

it shouldn't be held against them any more or any less than losing at the end of the year. It's a complete arse backwards philosophy to say that those games are worth less.

Wasn't the motto "every game counts"? I guess some more than others.

They are worth less in my eyes.

well you're an idiot

Because a national championship game involving a great team and a team getting worse through the season would suck. Teams get better as they play more.
I'm guessing you're impaired or something.

Okay then why don't we declare all these games as preseason and then when we get to October the real games can start
It's 12 games, not 112. What you do I game 1 should be no more or less important than what you do in game 12

So like if you beat someone at their home stadium it should matter more than if you lose to that team later in the NC game on "neutral" ground?

This has nothing to do with LSU

Yep...
I agree with you, is it about the season as a whole or who is better right then at that time?
Look at any sport that has a playoff and a streaky team can win it all. That's what makes it fun to watch.

Well, if you're trying to find the best 2 teams in the country to play for the NC or just in a playoff, do you want the team who was the best to start and never improved or the team that did not start as well but is clearly better now?

They all count. It doesn't mean you can't look at a game and point out how much different they are now than before. The playoff and NC do not want the best record. They want the best team.

That's why we need a playoff......that has 8 teams.
