I'll have to re-watch some, but it seemed like the blown coverage wasn't Everett or the other corner's fault. Every time in the first half that we had the deep ball thrown against us, it was the corner on an island. The safeties were nowhere.
I understand that the gameplan may have been to contain Davis and the run game. And that the safeties (starters) were a freshman (Watts) and Matthews.
The first half, both safeties look like they are rarely in position. As the game went on and it was obvious that the USC run game was going nowhere (Davis out as well), Matthews never really dropped back and stayed in coverage. It's been a constant complaint, but he always has his eyes in the backfield. Should we just move him to LB? It's how he plays the SS position.
Watts looked how he was supposed to in the second half though. All the long passes had him providing help (he did get beat some, but he was THERE) over the top. Matthews still no where to be found.

The secondary wasn't abysmal, but they were shaky, especially as the game wore on (that stretch in the 3rd quarter was concerning). They're better than last year (not saying much), but they MUST build upon last night for us to make some noise.

Matthews was our leading tackler at SS. He was doing his job.
Devonta Burns looked lost

Ok I get that, and Matthews has consistently been good against the run for the past few years. However, SS is not just against the run. I think Watts definitely showed a lot of promise, but we've got some work.
Also, what happened to Raven? Was he just not getting it? I don't know if I saw him play at all.
