They have a great O line, good RBs, an accurate QB, and some unbelievable receivers. And the defense looks much improved. Much better tackling and a much stronger D line.

The WVU game will be telling how our defense responds to a fast paced hurry up offense.

Yup been telling people on rant all summer that they were for real. A lot of pseudo fans on these boards talking out of their arse but not doing the research. All the articles told you they returned one of the top Olines in the country. Then you have the group of WRs. You knew what Pope and Kennedy could do as role players if you paid attention. But all the camp hype has been about RJS and Noil. RJS rose the occasion and Noil showed a glimpse but still needs to iron out the poise of first game jitters. Then you have 3 talented backs with a bruiser and Carson and a juker in Trey Williams. Even with those 2 getting the attention Brandon Willims was the first to get a carry and a catch a pass flexed out. (which was surprising). I don't know how many of you have followed Cam Clear from recruiting to the vols to TAMU but he was a guy I really really wanted for Saban's offense while he was still a recruit. He is just a huge blocking TE. So the final piece of the puzzle was the QB. If you had took the time to look at K Hills stats you would have noticed how efficient they were. So all you had to do next was youtube him and see if his video play/eye test matched the stats. Well low and behold if you have an eye for talent he jumps off the screen to you. So whats left to judge? As long as you have any decent coach, much less a great coach, you are going to put all those quality pieces together and put up points.

I guessssssss it may tell you if our coaches have figured out a way to better substitute/ or rather not substitute and get people in the right place before the ball is snapped. Otherwsise its really not going to give you much of a clue until we face a team with all the pieces. Its not enough just to go fast if you don't also get first downs. That takes more than just hiking the ball quickly, it takes skilled players as well.

I am actually going to hold more judgement on TAMUs defense though. It looked some what improved but I don't think USCe did a great job of attacking it. I also thought Thompson no where was up to level of some of the hype he received preseason.

I agree. Any doubts I had about Sumlin were put to rest last night. Dude simply is an offense master.

They are better than expected, but Im not worried or scared of them. By the time we paly, Im sure we will have enough tape on them to point out a few weaknesses. Its going to be a challenge for sure

South Carolina didn't have a pass rush at all and they had to play from behind. Remember last year A&M struggled mainly against the run which should be our strength. It's one game against an overrated opponent. They're good, but we have a chance to adjust early with the HUNH offenses we play early on.

They are better than expected and USCe is worse than expected. Be realistic guys.

Sumlin is good but top 5? Don't forget he lost 4 games WITH Johnny Flipoff.

Yeah, but their D looks improved. Yes, I know they gave up 28 points and a lot of yardage, but they ddi a good job against the run and they tackled better. Plus outside of two big passes early, they did a fair job for A&M.

SC's defense has been nasty the last few years but Whammy looked shellshocked last night.

So, is it a consensus that if A&M were to lose their OC, they would hum right along because Sumlin is the man behind the curtain?

Their OC is hell on developing QBs.

I think it's mainly Sumlin, but that OC is kinda like Smart. He's a part of it and could likely do it too, but it's Sumlin's scheme stuff.

Was thinking the same.

It'll be curious to see what that OC they have does when he moves on to another job though.
But, yeah Sumlin seems to have a handle, I would imagine, on most of the O.

To answer the thread, the verdict still remains on whether i'm worried with the ags. Lets not forget, this was the 1st time Scar faced them, AND IT SHOWED.
We'll see if their D is half-way legit when they face a west power.
I think their offence could be a tad worrisome.
But we haven't seen that QB get HIT yet.
