If this doesn't get y'all excited for Football, I don't know what will. We all know how conservative Fulmer can be about such things and we also know he's not exactly a sunshine pumper but this, this, is the Fulmer-speak for "we are better than you think and could actually be pretty good this year," imo.

quote:

Just understanding where we are and where Butch (Jones) is and the growth that has to come from having youthful offensive and defensive lines -- surely we can get to six or seven wins, I hope, and get to a bowl game. If we don't, I hope people don't panic and go off the deep end.

"We maybe could win eight or nine if things went right...The thing you have to look at is the body of work over a period of time, and Butch hasn't had enough time yet to fix the situation he inherited."

It's clear to me that Coach Fulmer is impressed and from the way he was regarding the other two guys, it's clear he thinks we may well have us a coach and one that can restore his alma mater to glory.

This tells me all I need to know about Jones.

Haha no but that kind of impression is telling. I believe he sees a good coach in Jones and a lot of talent that may exceed expectations.

It's odd to say but it sounds like Fulmer has 'bought in' and again that's telling, especially with regard to the future.

Kiffin took his job and Dooley was Dooley.

Thanks for the optimism Fulmer, but I am still mad at you for the nose dive you put your beloved football team in.

Mehhhh relatively speaking he was just coasting towards the runway for an emergency landing, then Kiffin/Dooley came in and stormed the cockpit and sent the plane down at a 90 degree angle

I think it means more than y'all give credit for, especially in terms of what he thinks about Jones' skills. It may not mean that much this year but as an evaluation of Jones, it speaks volumes.

Fulmer wouldn't be that optimistic, imo, unless he saw something very good happening on the Hill. He prefaces his words saying we'll need luck and no injuries but that optimism shines through all the same. And I've never heard Phil say we should be patient should a season turn out to be a disaster - he did that in those quotes too.

If USC and OM play like that we have a chance, but until I see us play I am not betting on anything.

I never bet on UT. I get stressed out about our games enough; I don't need the added pressure.

Honestly it doesn't bother me, my bets are usually in the $100-$200 range so most of the time if someone told me for us to win I'd have to lose the bet i would be ok with it

I have an obsession
