Have a coworker participating in Ironman Louisville

She's in her early 30s and rolling in the Top 50 of her age group right now. Started with the 2.4 mile swim, just finished the 112 mile bike stage, and in the early stages of the 26.2 mile run.
Anyone here ever done the Ironman (either prelim or the championship in Hawaii)? We log our exercise on the same app so I have a decent idea of what she has to do to train for it. Just curious if anyone else has participated in it or something similar to the Ironman and how they got to the point of participating.

Have a friend participating in it today. He's a freak. He doesn't train much. Him and his little brother pretty much will show up and do tris. He has trained a bit for this since it's an Ironman. It's really insane.

The one here in Louisville or at one of the other locations?
I know the one here is noted as one of the hottest locations. And we're have a really humid snap right now that has us in a Heat Advisory until Monday. Hopefully they all finish out ok.

The one in Louisville. He started the run about 20 mins ago or so. His mom is keeping us updated on FB.
He's wearing a Mizzou tri outfit. I think he was on the club tri team at Mizzou.
