Developing System, Path Uncertain

Who benefits more if the game is postponed to later date or played in windy/wet conditions?

The furthest it could be pushed back is Saturday or Sunday b/c A&M and USC dont share any open dates.

Me too!!!!!! I'm suppose to fly out of Charlotte Friday to catch a flight to the Dominican Republic!!!!! this thing could wreak havoc to flights along the SE Atlantic coastal areas if it gets near the area.

Waste of time.

It's not going to hit us. It's too early in the season for one to fully develop and drive far enough inwards to affect us anyways. Rain maybe ... if that's what you are asking?

If it rains then SCAR has an even bigger advantage than we already have.

From Air Force Ag's most recent TA daily update:

***22 Aug 11:00 PM Update***

Doc AFA Weather Forecast Record last year was 11-1. Thanks be to God and the spot-on Air Force Weather Agency Ensembles!

***NOTE: If you want updates on game day, please go follow me on Twitter...@Doc_Sanger. This is how I am updating my followers as kick off draws closer. I will also revise this thread once a day. Finally, Gabe has been kind enough to have me pre-record the game day forecast on the Thursday Fan Show.

It looks as though the models are building in a ridge v carving out a trough that would have allowed a cool front to slide into Columbia. So, that means hotter and more humid conditions for the cock fight. It also means that the moisture from any tropical system that forms could move towards SC. Thus, the chances for showers and thunderstorms has gone back up a bit.

The area of broad low pressure now over Puerto Rico is still struggling to form now that it's over land. However, once back out over open water and the warm Gulf Stream water, we may see a tropical cyclone form. The good news is that the Air Force Weather Agency Global Ensemble Model (63 members) re-curves it out to sea well away from the East Coast. In stark contrast, a few models move it over Florida or SE LA! Still way too early to tell, but worth keeping an eye on.

BOTTOM LINE: Due to the threat of a tropical cyclone bringing elevated moisture into SC, there is a chance of a few isolated to scattered showers & thunderstorms, especially on Thursday in the late afternoon and early evening. So, you should still pack those ponchos!

Midnight Yell Practice: Partly cloudy, warm, and sticky with a 10% chance of showers. The temperature will be around 76F with easterly winds at 5-7 mph. Relative humidity of around 90%.

Tailgate Weather: Partly cloudy, hot, and humid with a 20% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms, increasing to 40% by early afternoon. Southerly wind at 5-10 mph, with 20-30 mph gusts near storms. The temperature at daybreak will be around 73F before rising to mid-to-upper 80s by early afternoon. The relative humidity will start off around 95% before dropping to around 50% by the early afternoon. The heat index will be in the mid-90s.

Kickoff Weather: Partly cloudy, warm, and humid with a 40% chance of isolated showers, decreasing to 20% after halftime. Southerly winds at 5-10 mph with 20-30 mph gusts near storms.

Temp: 84F at kickoff, 82F at half, and 80F by end of game
Relative Humidity: 80-90%
Heat Index: Mid-to-uppper 80s
Winds: Southerly at 5-10 mph with 20-30 mph gusts near storms
Chance of Rain: 40% falling to 20% after halftime
Chance of Thunderstorms: 20%

Flying Weather (for those coming by private/commercial air): 85% chance of VFR conditions (ceiling/visibility > than 3000 feet/3 miles) from Wednesday morning through Friday morning.

Cheers,

Doc AFA

This is a myth, rain is actually far more detrimental to a team's running game.

Columbia is way to far inland for that little thing to delay the game. At worst it rains a little bit. Hugo is the only hurricane I've heard of that did any significant damage in Columbia.

I do remember going to an ecu game as a kid that might have been during a tropical storm. Too young to remember anything other than it rained the entire game and the water being too high outside the stadium for me to walk in so my dad carried me back to the car on his shoulders
