No.

Sly Croom was the worst coach in the history of the SEC.

If he would have gotten the Bama job, Alabama might be looking at a winning season this season for the first time in a decade.

No, just no. Even Houston Nutt managed to score in his last egg bowl.

Who cares, we're talking the difference between going 4-7 or 5-6.

Yes. He had experience as a college coach and would not have hired cronies who were selling cell phones to be his assistant coaches

Getting Croomed entered the SEC vernacular for a while.

Meaning if you got beat by Croom, it was grounds for firing.

Croom was an offensive coach who's offense never made it out of the 100s in five years. The only reason people pump him up is because he's black. The 2007 team's success was 100% due to Ellis Johnson and that defense, which Crooms had no part of.

He did not have experience as a head coach.

Oh please. No one is saying he was Vince Lombardi. He beat several teams he had no business being in the stadium with.

No, but he did actually recruit players and worked as a college coach

Croom was awful

Like someone said above the only reason we did decent in 2007 was Ellis Johnson

Shula went to Alabama at the worse possible time. Mike Price made it through spring training then got canned. The NCAA had Bama under sanctions. Shula did a good job especially considering the circumstance. Like Curry before him, he was fired for not beating Auburn.
