UGA's QB Mason sat out practice with a sore arm; is that a good thing?

This is pretty standard for our QBs in preseason

Really surprised, he's a Brian Davies award watch list guy.

Talent

We could put Johnny Knoxville at QB and win 10 games this season.

Who are Mason, Thompson and Mauck's backups?

These QB's need to stay upright for those teams to have any success.

Pretty sure every QB we've ever had has either sat out due to a sore arm or has had to take it easy during practice due to throwing a lot. SOP under Bobo

So long as the rest of the offense stays healthy, I think Ramsey or Faton Bauta could steer the ship to a 10 win season. Obviously, Mason is the preferred guy to get us to where we want to go, but we're so deep and talented on offense that I don't think it will completely destroy us so long as everyone else is healthy enough to play

Not a flame. I watched CBJ's presser after practice and he mentioned they do pitch counts for QBs in practice so they don't overthrow. I don't know how common this is in the SEC but do you think this is a good or bad practice, and would you want the same thing at UGA?

You could ask the Braves how that works out for their elbows.

Depends on the QB, honestly. And it depends on what kinds of throws they're making. They're not always slinging the ball as hard as they can every day in practice. Sometimes they're working on deep balls, sometimes they're quick outs, sometimes they're just slants across the middle. Also depends on the practice schedule. It could be that the QB and coach are willing to get the arm a little soar if they feel that there is enough recovery time before the next practice. Or it could just be a simple over-exertion in practice (which happens all the time for QBs everywhere).

Our track record of QB's (minus Joe Cox) speaks for itself. I trust Bobo and Richt know what they're doing.

I see. I guess Butch does it especially because we don't have much (if any) quality depth at QB and we need them to be as close to 100% as possible.

I don't think that's true for any of those teams. All three look to have talent behind their starter. I know that Mitch has been showing out in camp so far and many of our fans think we would fine/better if he were forced to start this year instead of next.
