Just heard about this. Could be awesome, could have an unnecessary injury and we need him in the secondary more imo. Not sure how I feel. What does everyone here on the GSB think?

He's a very dynamic player. He could be big time for Florida.

But he's your MOST IMPORTANT player in the secondary.

I for one, would not risk it. But I'm pretty conservative in that regard.

It's big risk, possible big reward.

This is the way I lean on this matter. At this point lets let Debose return the punts so his career at UF wont be a total bust (yeah I know he still has a chance to have a break out year this year in the revamped offense and he is the best kick returner we have ever had). Or lets let some young bucks or some exprienced unknowns get a shot like maybe Alvin Bailey, Michael McNeely Raphael Andrades, and or Ryan Sousa. Maybe rotate them in and see what you got.

Maybe we could let the loser of the CB battle opposite side of Hargreaves between Jalen Tabor and Duke Dawson return the punts so they can get some game experience.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Sophomore Austin Hardin won the kicking job in the spring after hitting just 4 of 12 field goal at- tempts in 2013. He’ll have competition from a pair of kickers enrolling this summer.
Former Ray Guy Award finalist Kyle Christy put together a solid spring at punter after losing his job to then-fresh- man Johnny Townsend in 2013. Both are back.
Andre Debose returns from an ACL injury that sidelined him last season. He has a school-record four kickoff return touchdowns. Hargreaves will handle punt-return duties.

Aint trying to start no rumors, read it on this website in black and white.

I'd rather VH3 stick to D. I feel like kelvin taylor would be solid at PR.

I don't think VH3 will handle punt returns. We will find out soon enough though.

I'd be surprised if VH3 handles punts too.

sounds like a perfect spot for Brandon Powell...he has the speed to be dangerous and it gets him on the field early.

I don't believe them, I highly doubt that website has a source inside the program They are just making that up IMO.

I am totally against VH3 returning punts when UF has guys like Bailey, Chris Thompson, or Brandon Powell to handle punt duties. None of them are "mission critical" to UF's season.

For one: There are plenty of receivers who could use some more field time which could, at the very least, get more receivers to come to Florida if they feel they might get more playing time.

For two: VHIII may be our best defensive player, let alone in the secondary. And guys who catch the ball can get fricking creamed a lot worse than any other place on the field. Blindsided, chopped at the knees, bad cuts.

Don't like it at all.

More importantly he is the leader of the defense. Look at the Easley injury last year. The guys who replaced Easley did well on the field but the team really missed his leadership. Driskel and Easley were the leaders last year, when they went down their leadership was missed more than on the field production.

Yeah, the only thing I have in the back of my mind though is LSU 2011. Maybe Vh3 has so much ability at the PR position, sort of like Mathieu, that he just has to get on the field.

Thats a very good point and apparently according this article from back in spring camp he was the #1 guy as the punt returner.
