I've been having neck soreness and bouts of insomnia lately, I don't have a decent pillow and was hoping maybe some of you could recommend one in the $30-$40 range. I'm mostly a side/back sleeper. Thanks!

I've found with pillows you pay for what you get. $30-$40 will get you a deent pillow you'll be replacing within a year. I bought some $250 pillows a few years ago that are awesome. They have a gel/foam core with goose down around the core. Perfect mix of soft and firm. No idea the brand though. I think the wife found them at Bed Bath & Beyond.

I've gotten some 50-100 dollar memory foam pillows for the wife and I and been incredibly happy.

I've suffered from neck problems for a few decades now. It's miserable trying to sleep if your neck hurts.

We, my wife and I, use memory foam Tempurpedic neck pillows we invested in when we bought our mattress.

Reads as if you may be suffering from Torticollis.

What really helped my neck was when my wife gave me a long body pillow that I keep between my legs or throw my leg over at night when I am sleeping.

Neck problems usually occur when that upper leg, when you are sleeping on your side, pulls your spine and neck out of alignment over the course of hours of not moving in your sleep. I used to throw my leg over my wife when I was sleeping, and still do in the winter because she is cold-blooded ... but in the summer it is too hot so the body pillow works better.

Insomnia is a bitch. I hate it when my circadian rhythms get out of whack ... and they have been lately.

We use extra padding under sheets. Helps with back problems.

I hope you get better

Thanks for the suggestions; my neck pain isn't anything real serious, just the past couple of nights I've had issues with it. I've been a borderline insomniac for a while now, some nights I sleep fine while others I can never get my head and body comfortable. Sounds like a bigger investment may be worthwhile for me; I don't mind spending $150 or so if I can get a good night's sleep consistently.

IDK, good luck. My wife has similar issues and has probably spent 300$ over the couple of years buying pillows that don't work just right. I told her I'm getting a divorce if she brings another pillow into our bed.

I get all of my pillows at J. C. Penney. $40 will get you a great pillow there. I prefer a firm pillow and I like to change it out for a new one every couple of years. Ideal situation for me.

My grandmother made pillows filled will ginned cotton which she covered with a grey cloth I think was called "ticking". Heavy, moldable and the best pillow I have ever had. Wife threw it out after 20 years. That's a lot of head sweat and slobber.

Anyone know where I can find another?
