I must admit, I like this swagger in my coach. Richt hasn't been this cocky since, well, ever.

He's laying it on the line.

UGA has a very good chance to make a run this year especially if Pruitt can find a way to mask some of that secondary. The talent is there.

Mark Richt = Houston Nutt with better resources.

One day Georgia will see its full potential realized.

I'm sure alot of teams feel the same way and I hope everyone has a great season. It's good to be in the SEC. The best of the best of the best in the best sport in America.

As opposed to Ole Miss, who has already seen its full potential?

I like Richt, class guy and all, but I think he's gonna need some breaks to go his way for UGA to win the SEC this year. If Bama doesn't win it this year, I'd like for UGA to win it. They were so close in 2012.

They maxed that potential out the year JFK was assassinated.

a reporter who's been to several SECMDs said today that this is the most confident he's ever seen Mark Richt.... TIFWIW.

eta: also said dan mullen was very confident as well.

Okay...forgot we were talking about Richt.

He's gonna need more breaks than most better-than-average HCs would need to win the SEC this year.

If I were an Alabama fan I'd still tell you the same thing.
No reason UGA can't win huge, like Alabama.

Alabama has had the number 1 recruiting class 6 years running. UGA is usually somewhere in the Top 10-15. Not saying we are disadvantaged but comparing us to Bama isn't a fair comparison reguarding talent. In 2012 Bama had a better Oline than any Oline I have ever seen.

Not comparing... Just saying, IMO, what your potential is. With all of the great prospects in Georgia coupled with the huge amounts of talent in surrounding states, such as South Carolina, Florida, and Bama, you could be that team that is top 5 recruiting every. single. season. Coaches are responsible for recruiting.

He has around a .750 winning pct over 12 seasons. What would you say is "better than average"?

They asked him a direct question....he's the UGA head coach, what was he supposed to say?

"yes, I also believe that USC will win our division"??

In the past he's said something like, "they're a very talented team, and we look forward to playing them. It should be a good division race."

Before Saban got to Bama and Urban to UF, UGA had the most consistent recruiting in the SEC. Almost always top 3-5 and very little came from it. I've always believed that UGA, UNC, and UCLA are the most underachieving football teams. UGA has fared better than the other two (by a large margin), but all 3 should be doing a lot better with the talent in their region and their resources.

UNC and UCLA are basketball schools though.
