Anyone know? Was it the Rashaan Evans thing or what?

What kind of punishment did we impose?

We had multiple secondary, so do most schools. no penalties. The Rashad Evans deal was someone accessing information that was hidden (hacked). We strengthened security to handle.

I know most schools have secondary violations but I always thought there was some little punishment with it. Guess I was wrong.

The AD sends a yearly report of all the secondary violations committed among all sports over that year span. June 30th is the end of that year-span...so the violations were released to the media after 2 weeks

Punishment is normally done by the school directly after the violation occurs. The AD sends the report at the end of the year along with the punishments handed out...if the NCAA doesn't think the punishment was sufficient, they can hand out something more severe

I'm not gonna get in the middle of the fight some are in over on the rant, but come on guys, this was not a "hack"

the university had made the pages before NSD thinking these people might sign

just as on NSD http ://www. auburn tigers.com/signingday/bios.html?player=j-ford (from 2013) was Johnathon Ford's signee URL, someone easily just put "r-evans" or something along those lines. The site was live but not linked yet.

It was a small frickup by the department, they clearly just said "hack" for lack of a better word, and some of you are looking dumb acting like this was some in depth hack

anyone could have done it

I agree. It seems like a mistake by someone in the AD department. But its a small violation, I believe. Not that big a deal besides other fanbases making fun of it. I dont really care.

Hack is more easy to say instead of trying to explain that someone modified a URL that lead to an active, but non-launched BIO page.

Easier, and wrong, because it implies a member of the media did something malicious or wrong.

If they just stuck with 'hey we did this for all recruits' 95% of people would understand and move on.

I think we self-imposed punishment on most of these. Minor things like not recruiting off-campus for 2 weeks or similar.
The NCAA could decide to take it further, but I doubt it.
This just reiterates how asinine the whole NCAA system is that schools have to pay a staff of people to monitor this stuff.
