Does Carl Lawson likely missing the season hurt AU's chances to repeat?

As SEC Champ?

While he is an amazing talent, I say no. Looks like Gus has some talent on that defense and as always AU's chances will come down to the offense.

ETA: They were able to do it last year with a worse defense than they'll have this year (most likely) in a much stronger SEC.

If he does actually miss the entire season, does losing a starter hurt every team?

The answer is obvious.

yeah...i rewatched some auburn film the night before last and they were pretty horrible against an inferior opponent. They'll be a little worse this year

He is their best defensive player and they finished 9th in ppg and 12th in ypg in the SEC last year.

They lose their best offensive weapon and by far their best lineman.

They had 6 games decided by 7 or fewer points/last drive.

They will be in trouble and will need every bit of the hype to be true about their 2 WRs and CAP

I was there last season and never went back and watched till a couple nights ago. I had forgotten so much from that game...

The Drop in the Endzone on the opening drive
Allen with a freak cut lat led to Derby coming in with 2 TO's (one just being a center exchange)

Short field for Auburn with Onside kick try

The center exchange leading to short field

Horrible play calling inside the 5

I'm not sure we would have still won but we shot ourselves in the foot way too many times to have a chance.

keep those fingers tightly crossed...I'm afraid of what UGA fans will do more than Bama fans if we have another SEC champion season

Keep telling yourself that. That was a team that won ZERO conference games the year before. We had new schemes and terminology on both sides of the ball. Those guys won the SEC.
