Anybody else use these?
I tried one last night. I just gave it a 30 minute window in which I wanted to wake and it set off my alarm just as I was coming out of REM. I felt great. Going to try it again tonight.
Here's my chart from last night, I went to bed pretty late.

What's it called? I've slept horribly since I was like 12 so I honestly might try it.

The one I used is called "sleep cycle".

That is the one that is like 5 bucks and you put under your sheets near your head?

It was $.99 and yea you put it on the corner of your bed.

Did you set the time the alarm would go off?

You set up a certain window for it to wake you up during. I use it as well. I love it.
Plus I am a nerd that loves tracking stats like this as well.

You set a window, anywhere from 10-90 minutes, and then set the general time you want to wake up. It somehow monitors your movements and will wake you just as you're coming out of Rapid Eye Movement sleep so you're more alert and don't feel like you just got jarred out of your sleep cycle.
I set a 30 minute window around 0930 so it could wake me up at anytime between 0915 and 0945. I'll probably do a 30 minute window again for tonight and set it up around 0530. I'll also have a backup alarm on my bed stand just in case it doesn't work out.
It's all about the circadian rhythm and shitte:

Haha, that's part of the appeal for me too. That and I read some pretty good reviews. Do you sleep better with it? I felt great this morning but it's hard to tell after just one go.

I've always been someone who is awful at using an alarm to wake up and would find ways to hit the snooze button or even sleep through the damn thing, so it has been great.

So is it simply a fairly sensitive motion detection app you lay flat near you and it measures your body movements and registers each movement against the time between each, grading a scale of restful and restlessness?
So I assume when it hits your "window of time to wake up" whenever you make movements indicating you are no longer in REM sleep, it triggers your alarm.
Am I in the ballpark?
Seems the novelty is getting to see the data. I bet that's fun.

I think there's a little bit more to it than that but you hit on the general concept.

It also seems that feeling rested is more about total time spent in REM cycle rather then how you're brought out of REM cycle. So while it may feel soothing the way you wake up I don't know if that can translate to actually being more well rested. Anybody think there may be a bit of a placebo effect regarding that part of the app?

Pretty much. Under the settings you can test out how well it tracks your movements. You lay it down where you would put it when you sleep and it will make a noise to notify you that it can tell you are movie. It works surprisingly well.
I enjoy tracking my drunken night sleeps.

Seems pretty cool. I'll check it out tonight.

Absolutely and I'm completely ok with that.

From personal experience it has worked much better for me than my regular alarm clock. Not getting suddenly woken up by alarm clock is great.

I'm all about placebos.
When they work.
When they work.

Found this app awhile back. It's pretty useful. I like the charts too.
