Where exactly is he pulling these academic performance numbers from? What standard is being used here. Top 5 academically would signify that Mizzou is a Top 5 academic program in the nation or is it a reference to graduation rates?

Yeah, one could consider national or conference championships to be important. I mean I get why Mizz wouldn't go there but many would probably agree with championships as being important.

Marketing is a very good thing, yet many academic institutions don't do it effectively.

Certainly championships would be important. But that does not lessen the value of a balanced football program to recruits.
