The different ways Spurrier has won is impressive

Really he's done it 4 different ways
- gimmicky, sort of trick play offense at a Duke
- won in a different kind of league in the USFL
- threw the ball all over the place at Florida
- at the Redskins.......well.....
-now at USCe he really does more through the rushing game, screens, and dump offs to the flats
Really impressive IMO in how well he has evolved over the years to fit his teams in an era when almost all of our programs have experienced coaches that just flat out refused to adapt when the writing was on the wall
Just some offseason food for thought
Oh......and frick Florida

quote:Yep, we eat the clock now. Strong defense, more running, and zone-read. Many say 2011 was his best coaching year yet with losing Lattimore, Garcia getting kicked off the team, and still winning 11 games in the SEC.

All the while I think we've only had three 5* players. Clowney, Latt, and Chris Culliver (not sure if he was consensus 5* though). Rivals has an article up right now that discusses our recruiting vs our on-field results but I'm not a subscriber. Would be nice for someone to post some of the numbers.

He's definitely been flexible. Not just at different programs but also with regard to the different talent he inherited vs the talent he recruited. He builds and schemes around what he has ... not many coaches are this flexible.
When he first arrived here at SCAR he did a lot with what little he had on offense, moved some players around, got more out of others, etc.
The first thing he does is set the bar high then he demands 100% from everyone involved.
He's also been proven to be very good at assembling coaching staffs and at replacing the few that move-on or are fired. He doesn't fire many though.
