Or if you don't have any good "family" recipes, what dish do you cook as your specialty?

Best family recipe would have to be chicken fried steak. My dad used to make it when I was growing up quite a bit, absolutely amazing.

Since becoming an adult, my specialty is a vanilla creme brûlée.

Oddly enough- Carne Guisada- and we are not a Hispanic family.

Or maybe the normal bean recipe that basically ends up a full meal.

My dad makes enchiladas and while he's Hispanic (He's my adoptive father) he makes it with an American twist. It's better than the real thing, in my opinion.

My mother makes pancakes with sugar and vanilla, and that's the one thing she doesn't have a recipe for, and she won't tell me how to make them. It's been the only thing she's not given me. I will know it one day,

Husband's family--fried tacos. I can do these, but they're not my favorite. Everyone else seems to love them, and I don't use a package of taco seasoning on them. I make my own taco seasoning.

Fair enough I have had enchiladas tons of different ways (beef, cheese, chicken, pork, shrimp, etc.), how does your dad Americanize them?

It's nothing special. I just use a couple of chili powders, cumin, paprika, onion powder and salt to taste.

He actually bakes them in the stead of your traditional Mexican frying. He also uses flour tortillas instead of corn flour and the spices have been a secret.

My Aunt's peanut brittle. I am positive she leaves something out of the recipe she gives people. But I've watched her make it: she butters her hands, then pulls it so that it's really airy and light, and buttery. It's freaking amazing.

If you haven't tried Flour while baking, hook it up.

Are you a green family, or a red family? He was red, but I prefer green.

Om nom nom. I'll kill for some decent kimchi in these parts.

My specialty is chicken creole. That's not impressive though, an idiot could put the stuff in the pot and have it come out tasty.
