Not a lot of details, but was returning to campus from his home.

quote:

Tennessee true freshman Charles Mosley is in a Memphis hospital after
suffering injuries to his lower leg Sunday in an automobile accident.

According to several people close to the situation and within the Tennessee
football family, Mosley has suffered a broken fibula and tibia that is expected
to require surgery in the next 12-24 hours and would most likely have him
redshirt his first year as a Vol.

Damn, thoughts go out to his family. What an awful time in one's life to be cut down like that.

He was likely to redshirt or sit for most of the year - seems tacky to even worry about that right now. Any word on his family? I swear July 4th weekends are like labor day - dangerous times on the interstates.

Damn, I know he is disappointed he won't be able to play with the season so close. Hope he makes a complete recovery and can play next year.

It's almost not worth it to travel for those holidays anymore.

I haven't heard much more about the accident yet but I have heard that he'll undergo surgery. The good news is that this kind of surgery which normally involves screws, nails, and/pr plates depending on how bad the leg is does tend heal without many complications. The bad news is without knowing how bad the breaks are it may not be so easy on him. Also, Big Charles is called Big Charles for a reason - he's a big kid (big personality too, truly the kinda guy you can grow to like really quickly) but larger people carrying extra weight can have a harder time healing.

Thankfully, UT will be able to give him the best rehab possible so at least in that regard he's fortunate. Hopefully the breaks are easy ones to fix and he has no complications.

Thanks for all the well wishes fellow ranters. If I come across more info. I'll post it.

Seatbelts don't help if the front of your car crumples and crushes your leg.

Not saying that's what happened, but it's certainly possible.
