With DGB gone. With a couple of top end recruits choosing to go elsewhere. There is a real opportunity for him to really contribute in a big way and I think early. Add too it that this year it will be Mauk(SO), Berk(JR), Printz(FR), Zanders(Redshirt). Next year it will be Mauk(JR), Berk(SR), Printz(SO), Zanders(FR), Lock(Redshirt). Year after (unless Mauk goes NFL) it will be Mauk(SR), Lock(FR), Printz(JR), Zanders(SO).

The guy is 6'2" 185 and can flat out run by all accounts. I know he has his heart set on playing QB, but I really think he could be a true contributor at WR. Would hate to lose him like we lost Hosick, when they can contribute, just not at QB, though I get it...if his heart is set on QB, then it's set on QB.

Just thought with some of the developments, it's given him a real opportunity.

But could you imagine Zanders running the "Read Option" he would be a nightmare to cover, especially with the fast and shifty running backs i.e. Ish Witter. There is a real opportunity to go after teams who could not prepare for that speed from the QB position. I think Zanders is a real find at QB.

I hear what you're saying, but would you agree that it is highly unlikely that GP is going to give him the #1 spot as long as Mauk is here? That means at least 2-3 years where at best, Zanders gets spot playing time. If he redshirts this year, that makes him a junior before he starts. If he doesn't redshirt, it makes him a senior when he becomes the starter. It's a good position for Mizzou to be in right now at QB with all the apparent depth they have at QB.

I feel ya, but how long would it take to develop him into a D1 WR? And I like Mizzou's crop of incoming WR's even though we need a few more.

As far as Pinkel making the switch, I know what you're saying, but coaches have to have the guts to make the switch if warranted like A&M and Auburn did. I just feel (after watching his film), that this kid is really something special at QB.

I take it you saw my post on SEC rant the other day.

Two things, first Pinkel isn't going to change an offense that's working relatively well for a speed option QB, not when he has Mauk, Printz and Lock all on board.

and B, you think Zanders might want to see the field this year, when all he has to do is look at TJ Moe as an example of a 3 star HS QB that went to the NFL as a good 3rd down possession guy?

It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see the light on this one.

HCGP: Do you want to sit on the bench for 3 years or get out on the field as a WR in 1 year??

Zanders: Good question coach. Let me get back to you. ( As he starts looking to transfer)

I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 or more of them transfer, but how many times does that work out for the better? See Tyler Gabbert. Usually ends up meaning transferring to a lesser program and even then, most times they end up right where they were on the depth chart.

well in that case I hope he enjoys his career at Chattahoochee College, because he won't get a better chance to play in an actual SEC game anywhere else.
