I know AJ McCarron is one of the very worst offenders. Now Clowney is saying it. Come on guys, be better than this.
I hope this trend doesn't continue, and I especially hope it doesn't continue among current or former Bama players. Let the performance speak for itself, and if you're healthy enough to play, don't use nagging injuries as an excuse.

Maybe, but Bama and Saban usually don't give the player a chance to play(or even be on the team) injured.

Playing injured players is dangerous and should be looked at by the NCAA, this is a safety issue.

By the way, the ESPN story has a byline if you hover over it that this news is "according to Clowney". In the story itself, it seems to indicate that Clowney isn't saying this but it was "discovered".
If Clowney isn't the one making this claim, then he is excused and only AJ is the recipient of this.

Football is tough. Mcelroy played with broken ribs but he toughed it out. Colt McCoy couldn't tough it out and failed to win a championship.

Oh, and by the way - I should have been promoted to CEO last year for my company, but I was working injured. I had a wrist strain and my eyes hurt sometimes, limiting my performance as an IT consultant. I'm going to talk to HR about changing my performance review.

Come on man, McCoy couldn't move his damn arm, your argument is as dumb as the people saying LeBron should have played through cramps. He had no choice since his body would not work properly.
Sometimes it is not about toughness and out of the players control.

Being tough is part of football, but my argument is about players who play through nagging injuries and then tell everyone after the season is over to use it as justification for underperformance. I don't hold Colt McCoy's injury against his performance, because he couldn't move his arm, like you said. That being said, I don't think the team itself can use his injury to discount a loss the way Texas fans do. They could have protected him better, not run him in an option play, etc.
