quote:

Coker: Expectations are VERY high

1. Jacob Coker: The reports continue to get better every week. Word today from one of our best sources is: When Nick Saban and others call you phenomenal…WOW…Coach Saban was referring to a player (Coker) we need to step up. Going to be a good year if this is the case. Source said he could be special if everything comes together. Also talked to the best high school quarterback coach I know of and he said when he went to a clinic there recently that he had never seen anything like it. He coached against Coker in high school and said Jimbo has turned him into an NFL prospect. Coach also said if bama OL can come together this might be Saban’s most prolific offense ever because of the wr. No sunshine pumped as you know but this was really my only concern about this team. Said it was so noticeable how talented he is that the players gravitate to him. Nothing against Blake but they see the writing on the wall. His go to guy so far has been OJ Howard. They have clicked.

quote:

2. Joshua Casher: Has REALLY excelled as a pass-blocker in 7-on-7; may make it hard to redshirt him; already thought to be nasty as a run-blocker; projects at guard but only because of his height; Only in the 6-foot range but extremely athletic with the feet to be an offensive tackle. Will be able to be EXCEPTIONAL pulling and help the running game on the edge. AlabamaINTEL will be speaking to his high school coach tomorrow to give a more in-depth look into one of the more underrated (but not by Redfish) prospects in the star-studded 2014 class.

quote:

3. Rashaan Evans: word is has the work ethic and hunger of a walk-on; bench-pressed his current body weight (6’4 225) 25 TIMES…to put in perspective, former DL Jesse Williams, two-time National Champion and Super Bowl winner with the Seahawks, bench pressed 225 27 times at the NFL combine. He also clocked a 4.5 40 during workouts…LAWD! Should be an impact player on third downs at the very least. His signing will prove HUGE…great credit to Kirby Smart, Nick Saban and the entire UA staff. Just a MASSIVE pick-up for the Crimson Tide.

quote:

4. Dominick Jackson, a legit 6-6, will compete at right guard with incumbent and fellow JC transfer Leon Brown, now a senior. If the junior college standout from College of San Mateo does not win the right guard position, he will very likely back up/compete with Cameron Robinson to solidify left tackle. Jackson’s talent will only make the OL competition better; still believe he wins the job at right guard, where he was named a first-team JC All-American last season and the top Juco OL in the country.

quote:

5. Tony Brown continues to impress with his toughness and work ethic; has impressed teammates who have said: we don’t know if he will start this season, but we have NEVER seen someone almost KILL themselves to try and win a starting job as a freshman. Has the ability to be a world-class (Olympian) in Track & Field, but make no mistake: he is a football player running track…will be INSTANT IMPACT this season. Dare say he is the most polished freshman corner of the Saban era, even more so than Dee Milliner and Kareem Jackson…STRONG!

I want to read the sunshine pumping version

ETA: It's worth noting that neither CNS nor any of the coaches besides Cochran have even watched Coker throw a pass since he's joined the team as coaches can't even watch the voluntary offseason work-outs

Bro just because they aren't down there on the field while this is going on doesn't mean CNS hasn't seen what the kid has been doing so far.

If Coker and Howard have become friends and have clicked I will NEVER stop fapping.

I still haven't stopped from the Saban hire.

Again, he and the coaches are not only disallowed from being on the field, they're disallowed from watching period. I'm sure he gets reports from players and Cochran, but I doubt he's going around telling anyone how phenomenal Coker is before he's even seen him throw in person.

I don't have any opinion on the Saban thing, but if he wanted to see Coker throw by now, he'd have it recorded and brought to him, and he'd get away with it too.

There's no doubt he could. The question then is would he?

Depends, really. He wants to be in control, and the QB position is a big question mark. He said like two months ago that he hadn't seen Coker throw since HS, supposing that was true, I can't imagine him being willing to wait until camp starts to see him in action.

Who knows though? We're speculating here. I wouldn't doubt that Saban hasn't seen Coker throw yet, but I also couldn't doubt that he has.

think about all everything you know about Saban, and then ask yourself if it's really a question.

As for the report, that's twice now I've heard glowing reports about Casher. He's not a guy i would expect for people to heap praise upon unless he is really turn some heads. I wouldnt expect that a tFR would come in and compete for a starting spot (especially without being an EE, or just huge), but he's definitely making some progress in that direction.

Also, that's about what I expect to hear about Evans. But Im just glad we're not hearing about him doing all that while wearing orange and blue. Those bench numbers are really eye popping. Does Evans have short arms? I didnt think he did, but that's a lot of reps on the bench for somebody that doesnt have T-Rex arms

He has long arms.

Hand has long arms too, and I recall him as a Junior winning a pushup contest against lighter Seniors.

I have sky high hopes for Evans. I have a feeling he will develop into my favorite LBer under Saban. Scary good.

He has a well earned reputation for bending rules right up to the breaking point. Watching video of the practices would be straight up breaking the rules. That said, it would be difficult for anyone to not occasionally watch a little from his office window. Even if that is the case, I just don't see him telling anyone Coker looks phenomenal based off that. Especially considering there was a report from another site saying our coaches weren't happy with the glowing comments Jimbo and others have made because it's putting undue pressure on Coker.

How many assistant strength coaches do we have who know nothing about strength and conditioning? They are football coaches who are there so they can coach them in times like these.

How many?

Again I acknowledged that, in the least, he gets reports on how things are going. I'm saying that he wouldn't go around talking Coker up based on 2nd hand reports of player run 7on7 drills.

So you're saying no one videos any of the voluntary work out sessions to show the coaches how players are progressing throughout the offseason?

I'm saying that it would be an NCAA violation. And I've never seen it posted or stated that the voluntary practices are videoed.
