According to numerous UGA outlets, it appears that UGA and Notre Dame have struck a deal for a home and home series starting with UGA in South Bend in 2017, with a return trip to Sanford in 2019.

You don't schedule these type of games if you want to make it to the new playoff system. With our conference schedule and now another power outside our league doesn't look good for us if we lose.

I don't fly by that mentality. If you are the best team in the nation you beat anyone who opposes you. If we lose then it quite simply is not meant to be.

That's the risk you take, I guess. But I think you'd be in the minority if you're not excited about this matchup. It helps with recruiting, money, national exposure, etc...
There's a ton of benefits to a series like this, and like Floyd said, if you can't beat Notre Dame and are scared to play bigger OOC teams because you're worried about losing, then it's just not meant to be. You aren't that good and would likely lose in a playoff scenario anyway.

I agree with knee on this. Look at UF's schedule every time they won.

The best team in the nation doesn't have to win every game. UF lost to Ole Miss, won the rest of their games on their schedule, then went on to win the NC. If UGA were to lose to ND, that would almost guarantee at least 2 maybe 3 losses on the season due to the SEC being as strong as it is year in and year out. With this new playoff format, you want the path of least resistant. It's very unlikely UGA would run the table in league play. You schedule inferior opponents (guarantee W's), get to the SECCG, and win the league. If you accomplish all of the goals I just stated, you'll be right there in the end.

I would like the match-up more if there was a guarantee that the playoff format will expand from 4 teams to 8, 10, 12, 16 etc. With only 4 slots available, you need all the wins you can get.

Us, not so much - maybe very little at least. Them, much more so than us.

This is going to be one of the toughest tickets to get in UGA history. Going to be a lot of disappointed people.
