Planned on saving this until July/August, but there were a ridiculous amount of shitty threads on the tRant over the last few days, so now seems like the time to...insert another shitty thread. I guess the theme here is that the SEC eats itself this year and doesn't make it to the playoff if there are 4 undefeated/1 loss major conference champions left at the end of the season. I just don't see a clearly elite team in the conference, but a lot of very good teams.

And, yes, I played the homer role. I put the time in, so I figured why not. I may alter some of it over the next 2 1/2 months depending on how things play out, but this is what I'm feeling right now. Rip it to shreds.

East:

(1) UGA: 10-2 (6-2) - Losses @ Mizzou, v AU

(2) USC: 10-2 (6-2) - v UGA, @ AU

(3) UF: 8-4 (5-3) - @ Bama, UGA (Jax), v USCe, @ FSU

(4) Miz: 9-3 (5-3) - @ USCe, @ UF, @ UT

(5) UT: 6-6 (3-5) - @ OU, @ UGA, v UF, @ OM, v Bama, @ USCe

(6) UK: 5-7 (1-7) - @ UF, v USCe, @ LSU, v MSU, @ Mizzou, v UGA, @ UT

(7) VU: 5-7 (1-7) - v OM, v USCe, @ UK, v UGA, @ Mizzou, v UF, v UT

West:

(1) UAT: 10-2 (6-2) - @ LSU, @ OM

(2) AU: 10-2 (6-2) - @ Miss St., @ Bama

(3) OM: 9-3 (5-3) - @ aTm, v AU, @ Arky

(4) LSU: 8-4 (5-3) - v Whisky, @ AU, @ UF, v OM

(5) MSU: 8-4 (4-4) - @ LSU, @ Bama, v Vandy, @ OM

(6) aTm: 6-6 (2-6) - @ USCe, @ Miss St., @ Bama, @ AU, v Mizzou, v LSU

(7) Arky: 4-8 (1-7) - @ AU, @ Texas Tech, v aTm, v Bama, v UGA, @ Miss St., v LSU, @ Mizzou

SECCG: UGA over Bama

OPOY: Todd Gurley, UGA

DPOY: A.J. Johnson, Tennessee - wins career achievement award after willing UT back to a bowl game with 10 tckls, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FF, and 1 FR in upset over Mizzou.

STPOY: Christon Jones, Bama

COY: The Reverend and Moral Compass of College Football - Mark Richt, UGA

Upsets:

Miss St. over AU

OM over Bama

UT over Mizzou

Arky over OM

UK over Louisville

WTF Team: OM beats Bama and LSU, but loses to both aTm and Arky. WAOM.

If Gambling Was Legal:

Arky +24 @ AU

WVU +27.5 v Bama

UGA +3 @ USCe

UF +21 @ Bama

Miss St + 9.5 @ AU

AU -6.5 v LSU

Arky +14.5 v UGA

Too early.

WD does a better job at compiling the prediction threads so we should wait.

Agree. While I respect the thoroughness, let's keep the "UGA wins the SECCG despite a subpar QB" threads on the UGA board.

I didn't ask for anybody else's prediction necessarily, so this is a little different than WG's thread.

But, yes, I agree it's too early.

I think Nick Marshall is easily the best QB in the conference this year and everybody else is "subpar" when compared to the crop of QBs we had last year. But I couldn't pick AU to win the SEC when there has not been a repeat SEC champion since Tennessee in '97-'98. Along the same lines, I didn't pick AU to make consecutive title games considering it has only happened twice (Bama 3 times in a row once) in the history of the West and it was Bama doing it both times.

You know if an Auburn fan wrote this, you would have about 20 bama fans in this thread about 5 minutes

The east looks reasonable, I'd switch OM and LSU in the West.

Also, what is the stat? Auburn hasn't had back to back 10 win seasons since '89?

They've only won 10 games in consecutive years once in the program's history, but I figured I had to pick against history at least once in these predictions.

Yeah, I originally had it in there for formatting purposes, then realized it didn't matter and forgot to change it.

Just can't see us beating the two best teams in the East plus LSU and OM in the West, but losing to MSU.

Historically, if AU is a very good team (and you are predicting us to win 10 in the regular season, so you think we will be) we only lose to other very good teams.

Just looked up the series history, and MSU is 4-39-1 against AU/API in years when we have 7 or more wins on the season, with only 2 of those victories happening in the last five decades. So it wouldn't be unprecedented for them to knock us off in the midst of an otherwise good year, but it's highly unlikely.

Interesting picks overall, though.

My primary rationale for the MSU upset was that MSU, if Dak is healthy, is good enough to beat one of the big boys. Leading up to the AU game, they have LSU on the road, an off week and aTm at home. That gives them a solid game to gain experience, a week to recover and then a week seeing another spread offense before AU comes to town. Meanwhile, it will be AU's first road game of the year that they don't have extra time to prepare for; further, I expect a lot of AU players to have the LSU game circled this year and they play LSU at home before traveling to Starkville.

But I mainly just threw some shat against the wall to see what sticks.
