Huge win yesterday. More luck than anything, but 3 points is 3 points no matter how you cut it.

I'm trying to get into it but I still don't know exactly what's going on

Yesterday was a pretty cool game though. How will Altidore (sp) being out effect this team? He's pretty good right?

It would be a big hit. Something like losing a Marquez North or someone that's dynamic with the ball and creating opportunities. Hopefully it's just a pulled hamstring and he'll be able recover by the next match against Portugal.

I'd love it if he were back that fast, but I kinda doubt it. If we could find a way to beat Portugal, that would ensure us moving on and you could rest him until after these pool games.

Portugal is banged up too and got thinner with a player getting a red card in the Germany game. So they are without him, 2 other guys are doubtful and even Ronaldo was questionable going into that Germany game.

I'm still laughing over Pepe head butting Mueller out of frustration. Pepe is the life line of that Portugese back line IMO. It's going to be interesting if they send Wondolowski to roam that back line now that Pepe is gone and Jozy is injured.

My wife was born and raised in Germany so naturally I've taken to them over the years. It was nice to see Portugal get smashed by those guys. Losing Pepe, Coentrao and Almeida helps us tremendously IMO.

I think the Germany game is going to be brutal unfortunately, gonna be a long day at my house

I am trying to get into it. I was raised to think at "soccer is a communist sport and you'll play real, American sports". So I'm learning it.

Question: has anyone streamed it on watchESPN?

I was in the same category before being stationed in Europe for 3 years. I understand completely.

As an englihsman I only care about tomorrows game, gonna try and not get so drunk this time as it took me 2 days to recover but if we lose I worry for the bars alcohol supply

Well, let's hope we take care of business against Portugal and it won't matter. In fact, it will be a game to rest and get healthy and maybe even get some other guys some time.

If we manage a draw against Portugal, let's just hope it's not as brutal as it was for Portugal.

Little worried about our backline too. Any word on Besler?

I haven't seen anything on Besler yet, I remember him grabbing his leg in the last match and then getting subbed out. Hopefully nothing overly serious.

It blows my mind at how many players are getting injured so far for this WC... All those Ghanese Witch Doctors IMO

We called it "communist kickball" when I was a kid.

I started watching club ball a few years ago (Everton fan) and it's now my favorite televised sport, bar none...

Really need him for Germany now.

Even though I'm pissed we gave the game away to Portugal, I'm now a huge Portugal fan over Ghana.

Is there any chance in the world that football or even basketball takes a page out of soccer's playbook and goes commercial free during play and load up halftime with nothing but commercials and skip half of the half time shows/analysis. I know. No chance in hell, but the lack of scoring that people complain about in soccer is made up for by the fact that it is continuous play in my opinion.

No, certainly not possible for football. Too much ad revenue to the networks that shell out the big bucks for the TV rights.
To be honest, I've gotten so used to soccer the past few years that I find it much more difficult to watch pro football (unless it is the team I root for) for that very reason...
