Ok, we're going to compare Brandon Allen's Numbers to all the SEC Arkansas QB's who played heavily as Sophomores and their Junior seasons.

Barry Lunney Jr.:

104 completions, 202 attempts, 51.5% completion rate, 1,241 yards, 6 TD, 7 INT, Team Record 5-5-1

101 completions, 183 attempts, 55.2% completion rate, 1,345 yards, 11 TD, 6 INT, Team Record 4-7

Clint Stoerner:

173 completions, 357 attempts, 48.5% completion rate, 2,357 yards, 12 TD, 13 INT. Team Record 4-7

167 completions, 312 attempts, 53.5% completion rate, 2,629 yards, 26 TD, 8 INT. Team Record 9-3

Matt Jones:

122 completions, 234 attempts, 52.1% completion rate, 1,592 yards, 16 TD, 8 INT. Team Record 9-5

132 completions, 230 attempts, 57.4% completion rate, 1,917 yards, 18 TD, 7 INT. Team Record 9-4

Casey Dick:

65 completions, 132 attempts, 49.2% completion rate, 991 yards, 9 TD, 6 INT. Record as Starter 2-3

150 completions, 262 attempts, 57.3% completion rate, 1,695 yards, 18 TD, 10 INT. Team Record 8-5

Ryan Mallett:

225 completions, 403 attempts, 55.8% completion rate, 3,624 yards, 30 TD, 7 INT, Team Record 8-5

266 completions, 411 attempts, 64.7% completion rate, 3,869 yards, 32 TD, 12 INT, Team Record 10-3

Brandon Allen:

128 completions, 258 attempts, 49.6% completion rate, 1,552 yards, 13 TD, 10 INT. Team Record 3-9

Kinda puts a few things into perspective doesn't it?

They all improved stat wise, yes, as far as the eye test, Stoerner was improving until his injury in the ULM blow out, Matt Jones was a freak type player, Casey Dick appeared to be the same QB from his Soph-Senior seasons, nothing changed with him from his Junior-Senior season other than attempts.

Not sure what perspective you're going for.

I'll give Brandon Allen a few games this year.

Here's the thing with Allen that bothers me.....His scared shitless look starting against Alabama in 2012 in place of Wilson....is the same facial expression 2013 versus LSU.

I understand he was injured some of last year....but the injury bone doesn't directly connect to the brain and make stupid decisions.

I hope to god I'm proven wrong....

I updated it to include Ryan Mallett and Barry Lunney Jr.

EVERY SINGLE QB has increased their completion percentage by a significant margin. All but Ryan Mallett had a better TD/INT ratio. All but Casey Dick heavily improved their YP/A.

Even discounting the injury influence we should expect to see considerably better play from Brandon Allen this season.

If the injury was a serious factor, we could see dramatically better play.

The entire state has been filled with bleeding vagina woe is me fans since 1969.

The year 2012 says frick you. Everything about 2012 from the second the Cotton Bowl was over was as bad as it could possibly have been. Starting with DGB going to Mizzou and ending with Tyler Wilson overthrowing Mekale Mckay on the last play of the LSU game.

I'd be right there with ya if it wasn't Brandon Allen we're relying on.

We forget no one else even tried to flip him after his commitment. He was probably a roster gift to Bobby Allen for handling our muck duties and somehow ended up the only option.

Depending on BA to win a game doesn't fill me with confidence.

Bert's Wisconsin teams did not rely on the QB to win games, but did rely on them not to lose them.

It is cliche, it is something Nutt talked about but had no idea how to institute on a team.

It isn't an uncommon role for the QB, Bama and LSU have relied on "game managers" at the position for a while now in the SEC.

If he can cut down the more costly turnovers and show some durability that will be a huge step in the right direction.

Agree. I do not think that is too much to ask from the position.

First thing I noticed was drop in attempts but increase in yardage ( non Petrino qb's). Tells me 2 things:

First, we had to rely less on the qb (better running game, not playing from behind, not having 3rd and long, etc). That's a function of overall team improvement.

Second, we were more successful with vertical passing game or YAC.

Casey Dick in his senior season was better than anything we put on the field last season.

Casey Dick in his Junior season was just as good if not better than Casey Dick in his Senior season.
