1989 Texas A & M = 2014 ULL

Both teams were run scoring juggernauts that positioned themselves for Omaha runs... Both teams were 1 win away from the CWS in their own stadium... Both were ranked #1 in every poll headed into postseason play... But unfortunately, both teams ran into the unstoppable force that is/was Mike Bianco... He was perfect behind the dish and locked in at the plate while batting leadoff for the Tigers in College Station in 89... This past weekend in Lafayette he made the right pitch calls and pushed all the right buttons offensively and defensively to yet again deny the winningest team in college baseball a trip to the promised land... Congrats Mike! You little dream crushing, sawed off , SOB you.

That '89 A&M team was one of the best ever, went something like 59-6. Its unbelievable they didnt make the CWS.

Yes ... they were incredible... Really goes to show you how hard it is to get there... Even though aTm didn't make it to the CWS in 89 they were still voted 2nd in the polls at season' send... I don't know if Lafayette will get second now that there's a championship series, but I could definitely see them ranked 3rd when all is said and done.
