This will be the hardest the rant ever has or ever will root for South Carolina. IHIOGA Arkansas fans are actually more interested in this game than their opening weekend formality against Auburn.

I see a USC 4-7 pt win....off the top of my head without going back and looking at the games, it "feels" like USC oftentimes looks a little rusty in openers against decent teams.... Especially on offense. Ugly games that they find a way to win.
I recall some closer-than-should be games against vandy and nc state and even UNC last year to a smaller extent

Correct, USC under Spurrier has been remarkably consistent in this regard.
Last year they looked very meh against a six-loss UNC team.
In 2012 they lucked into a win against Vandy.
In 2011 they trailed East Carolina until late in the third quarter.
They did win a blowout opener in 2010, but 2009 was a four point win over 5-7 NC State.
They definitely come out sluggish.

Not sure how anyone could predict a blowout, though )'(like OP seems to be doing)....id say 85% chance fairly close game, 15% chance one-sided.
Haven't seen the early spread yet, but I'd imagine 5-8pts USC
Has there ever been a blowout on an SEC Thursday night opener? Teams have the entire offseason to gameplan for this one game under no time constraints, it makes sense that the game would be competitive IMO.
Strike that, I think LSU blew out MissSt thu opener in 2007, but State doesn't count. They cursed when it comes to playing LSU.
