Almost exclusively on the defensive side of the ball
* Players with * next to their name to indicate a best guess on which position they'll end up at.
Cornerback:
*Evan Berry - 4* -- Could end up anywhere
Safety:
Todd Kelly - 4*
*Cortez McDowell - 4* -- Possible LB Move
RaShaan Gaulden - 3*
Linebacker:
Dillon Bates - 4*
Gavin Bryant - 4*
Chris Weatherd - 4* -- Yet to arrive. Grades?
*Elliot Berry - 3*
Defensive Line:
DeWayne Hendrix - 4*
Derek Barnett - 4*
*Charles Mosley - 4* -- Possible OL Move
Mike Sawyers - 3*
Joe Henderson - 3*
*Jashon Robertson - 3* -- Possible OL Move
Running Back:
Derell Scott - 4*
Treyvon Paulk - 3*
Wide Out:
*Vic Wharton - 3*
Kicker:
Aaron Medley - 3*
Most arrived on campus yesterday or will be in today. Just like with the EE, I expect a couple of these guys to really standout and make an impact as TF. Same as every year.
Which, if any, incoming players can you guys see challenging for a starting spot from day 1?

I've said for awhile that I think TKJr will eventually take McNeil's SS spot this year but it wouldn't surprise me if he's starting vs Utah St. Gaulden could get some looks in nickel packages and I'm interested to see what happens with McDowell. I do hope he stays at Safety.
On the DL, I think Hendrix, Barnett and Sawyers will be in the 2 deep immediately. Wouldn't shock me if Hendrix takes Jordan Williams' spot by mid season.
Evan Berry could challenge Moseley for the 2nd CB position opposite Sutton. It's crazy how underrated he was considering his last name imo.
I think at RB, Scott will be getting some snaps at could be #3 on the depth chart. He should be able to beat out Pickett and take some snaps from DY. Paulk needs to redshirt and heal that knee imo.
At LB, I think Bates could definitely get some playing time. And Chris Weatherd needs to get his shite together. The whole moving Maggitt to DE things was predicated on Weatherd showing up ready to compete. Weatherd not making it in would throw a wrench in the plans.
I could see Robertson moving to OL but I've thought for a while that they're crazy if the try to move Mosely. He doesn't have the footwork to play OT or OG in a zone blocking scheme. I think Big Charles has a ton of potential as a NT or whenever we go into a 3 man front.
I think Wharton could be a playmaker on special teams early but I don't see him getting on the field in the slot anytime soon considering what we've got a reciever now.
I could see Medley handling PK duties. Darr will have the punting locked down and I'm assuming Bullock will handle kickoffs.
That my predictions. I'm pretty stoked to see what happens come fall camp. There's gonna be a ton of shakeup on the defensive side of the ball for sure.

Great write up.
I feel confident in Tk Jr.(SS) and Gaulden(NB) as well. Atleast in some capacity. I expect(hope) Tk Jr. lives up to the hype and competes for the job on day 1.
I wasn't aware of that. You've gotta think JRM takes the next step this year.
Agree on all accounts. Curious as to whether or not Hendrix stays on the outside or slides in going forward. Also, I think Joe Henderson is another name to watch out for. He's got that superior speed off the edge that we haven't had in a while. Outside of Vereen and Maggitt he may be one of the go to guys for that Edge rush we've needed. Even if it's sparingly like Vereen was last year.
I'd love to see that happen. If he can come out and beat Coleman, Payne, and Mosely then you've gotta give him the nod. From what I've seen it looks like he lays the wood more than anyone of the other 3. Also has that elite speed
Robertsons a guy that I hope stays on the defensive side of the ball, albeit with a red shirt season and a heavy dose of S&C. He's extremely athletic, just needs to continue to get stronger.
-Corner and BuddhaVol have said repeatedly on VQ that Sawyers will be ready to go from day 1 and is likely the only 1 of the 3 Mid state DL guys that physically capable of competing for the job at this point.
Have you heard anything on when we can expect the new guys to get to work on the practice field? I'm not going to lie, I'm probably overly excited to read the post practice write ups and see what they're capable of. I haven't been this excited about one class in close to 10 years.

They'll start participating in voluntary summer workouts basically as soon as they settle in on campus, and they'll obviously start working out with the team soon. But there are no official team practices until preseason camp in August.
- Ryan Callahan just posted an answer to somebody with the same question.

I hope so too because McNeil is absolutely a liability in space and in coverage. Below average Safety speed and takes some of the worst angles I've seen. Average tackler though but it doesn't matter if you can't catch the guy with the football.

Maggitt worked with his hand on the ground a ton this spring. From what I've read is they're planning on Weatherd taking Maggitt's old spot as the OLB that can get after the QB. If Weatherd keeps monkeying around in class, I assume Maggitt will be back at OLB exclusively. Unless they're ready to throw young Bates into the fire.

Good point. I hope Hendrix is able to stay outside but I would imagine he would be more than adequate at DT. Henderson could be a player too. He's gained a lot of good weight since last season.

Well from everything I've read, they've already moved Coleman inside which should've been done 2 years ago. Coleman and Payne were pretty much #1 and #2 on the NB depth chart while Moseley was working with the 1's at CB with I think Swafford as backup.
And yeah I think Evan is gonna be a stud CB in the future for Ut. Kid knows how to lay a lick like EB used to and like you said, he's got elite speed. Criminally underrated player imo.
I really hope out DB depth chart looks something like this
CB- Sutton/Swafford
CB- Ev.Berry/Moseley
NB- Coleman/Payne or Gaulden
FS-Randolph/McDowell or Gaulden
SS- Kelly Jr./ McNeil

I do agree that I think his future is brighter as a DT and you can never have enough quality DTs in the SEC. Just saying that if someone had to go to the OL, is assume it would be Robertson. Big Charles to the OL is a bunch of hogwash imo but I've been wrong before lol.

No idea yet. As far as I know everyone is on campus now except Weatherd, who now says he will be here in July. I'm jonesing for some news though too. I'm really really interested in seeing what happens in the QB race. That's gonna be the x-factor in determining how well or badly this season goes imo.

Somehow this got push pinned?

It's possible. He's talking about how he uses his meat claws to play with his skin flute on the OT board. #Lurkin

It's a good write up with some solid info on the new comers.
Didn't want it getting lost in the weeds.

If I could pin individual posts, I would do so with this prosal masterpiece.

After you helped out with forwarding that resume to the right people, it's the least I could do.

I'd take that all day in the 4-2-5
