Junior college linebacker Josh Williams, 6-2, 240, 4.43 of Dodge City Community College said he plans to enroll at Arkansas this summer and play in the fall if his transcript is accepted. He said should know in a week or two. Williams said he wants to play major college football in the fall instead of waiting until the 2015 season. Texas A&M and several other SEC schools are recruiting him for the 2015 class. He has four years to play three. - RD

May be Germans, but transcript was accepted and has signed with Hogs with immediate eligibility.

Why is he eligible to play this fall at Arkansas but none of the other schools recruiting him were able to make that work? Seems odd to me

Did you have any room left in your '14 class?

Sam Pittman had to convince him to change his plans and get him in to a college system now. It came together rather quickly and I imagine other schools didn't react quick enough if they were interested. He had no intention of being a '14 recruit until like two weeks ago.

It also helps that two of his high school teammates from Miami are at Arkansas.

Didn't find out he would qualify for a four year school until after signing day. His coach didn't think he had good enough post signing day offers so he told him to go to JUCO instead of taking a late offer so he could get better offers.

Also, I highly doubt that 4.43 is legit. I would bet my paycheck that it's hand timed.

We do now that people have transferred. It just seemed weird the way the quote was phrased. Made it seem like all the other schools were recruiting him for 15 knowing he could be eligible for 14.

That's now how it works. As a '14 commit he counts towards the 25 number you have to hit on signing day and not the 85 roster limit.

We only signed 23 guys towards the '14 class so we still had two spots available. They convinced him to come to college immediately and take one of those spots instead of waiting to '15.

He wasn't planning on being a '14 signee even though he technically could is how I understood it. Pittman met him while recruiting someone else and, after finding out his situation, convinced him to come now.

I believe he played DE in HS and Dodge City put him at LB. Raw probably, but got several schools attention with his play at Dodge. We had a spot, and needed depth at LB. Sounds like he's a hard worker from some of his quotes. Hope he pans out.

The second best part of this commit is that it now gives us nine guys from Miami in the past two classes.

Well we had 21 commits for 14 so I guess we had 4 spots open

No clue then. Pittman is a legit recruiter though so it doesn't surprise me that he could convince the kid to change his mind that quickly and keep it on the down low. It wasn't even reported by our recruiting guys until he had already applied to Arkansas.

Like I said, it also helped that two of his high school teammates are on our team. That and the fact that there probably isn't a team in the SEC that needs LB's worse than us are two great selling points.

Yeah I'm not questioning how you got him, that's great for y'all and I wish we had done the same. I'm more annoyed if we didn't put in the effort because we need the LB depth.

And I'm not saying we would have landed him if we had, it just made it seem like we weren't recruiting him for 14 which doesn't make sense on our end
