Some professor was doing a climate study, was alone at the time, traversing across a glacier and fell through a hole in the ice. Broke his arm, seperated his shoulders and was able to climb up. Had to sleep alone for the night until help got to him the next day. Lucky to be alive. Video at the bottom of the story.

Pretty crazy. It's been all over the news here because he's a geography professor at Western Kentucky University.

Seems like climate change is causing ice to melt leaving dangerous caverns

In the article there is a link to his FB page. there are more YouTube videos that are linked in his face book page. In watched them earlier today and I have to admit it that guy is one tough SOB. I can only hope that if I was in the same situation that I could have done the same thing and willed myself to the top. A broken arm and two seperated shoulders and still found a way to climb up 70' in freezing cold, then had to wait for the helicopter to come the next day. Just a remarkable story of perseverance survival.

Reminds me of the guy who cut his own arm off to get out from under the boulder. James Franco.
