"Bad" weight should I say. Kinda makes you wonder what the previous S&C staff was doing...

I'm no PED expert but that sounds possible...but there's no saying either way.

I'll just chalk it up to hard work and eating right for now.

Likely nowhere near the cardio training nor the HIIT training that is being done now and is requires to have real stamina on a HUNH team. Both those methods naturally reshape the body if done right.

I was thinking the same thing. Is he gonna be playing a lot more DE this year?

This

There are advantages to having extra mass even if it's lard at the position

Yeah, we don't want to turn into Oregon's defense. A bunch of Dlinemen getting pushed around by physical teams (Stanford).

Ha, I think Coach Russell and crew know what they are doing. He's probably still stronger and quicker than before and can still put on "good weight" over the summer.

Johnson loves the melvin ingram types, the tweener DE/DTs... he values getting in the backfield more so than holding ground and taking on blockers.

This should really benefit Wright, who's best asset is his quickness.

Meh.

Wright had his best year last year by a large margin.

2nd on the team with 8.5 TFL (only 7.5 the previous 2 years combined).
Lead DL with 31 tackles (31 tackles total the previous 2 years combined).
3rd on the team with 3 sacks (2 sacks total the previous 2 years combined).
4th on the team with 8 QB hurries (9 qb hurries total the previous 2 years combined).

His best asset is penetration. He's not meant to be a Terrance Cody.

Agreed. Monty and Blackson should be able to bring enough beef to the table.

Ehh, I think Monty has that quick first step like Gabe.

Bradley & Whitaker are going to be the space eaters like Blackson.

He does, I didn't mean it as he was just going to eat blocks. Just that if we need size inside, he can take that role. Not every DT needs to be 300+

yeah... bradley was a run down specialist last year... will be interesting to see if he can be an everydown player this year.

Adams has the physical talent to dominate both has a pass rusher inside and run stopper... provided he stays healthy and stays motivated.
