You're at USA in the pharmacy program right? What's the Greek participation rate down there? I've done a couple of searches and just get the university's Greek homepage. I got a kid looking to go there. May take a summer tour.

TIA.

For the record, I was a GDI my four years at Auburn. However, Greek has never been important there. One of the main reasons I went to Auburn over Alabama honestly.

ETA: I'd love for her to go to an SEC school, but that's just not for her. She needs a smaller school to be honest. Also, USA is one of the few schools instate that offer a working hospital. That's what she wants to do.....

Yes I am and I did my undergrad here. I'm a little unsure as to what you mean by greek participation... you mean student participation in greek activities or greek involvement in university activities?

Greek access isn't as highly sought as a bigger school since the perks aren't as... impressive. (football seating, etc.)

The student body here focuses more on practical club involvement, such as AED (Alpha Epsilon Delta) pre-health honor society. Pretty sure USA has one of the most active AED chapters in the nation.

The guys I know who were actually in greek were alright. The University has been really trying to get Greeks involved more in USA athletics since they believe that is the key to getting more general student participation.

I wish I could be more helpful but I was very boring and went there to "get the job done", so to speak. I will say that since conception of the football program that I have seen more greek presence. They seem to be intertwined to one another.

ETA: Definitely take the tour. The campus and outlying area has changed so much in the past 8 years and if you haven't seen it since then, it will probably blow away any preconceived ideas you have about USA.

Don't let her stay at "the edge" apartment complex.

She's the only one in her class that I know of that's considering going there. That's why I had considered Greek for her.

Thanks for the info. I hope to have her get a pharm tech license before she gets on campus. Hope she can get a job at the university hospital. She wants to do psychiatry.

Check the USA human resources page for job listing. Getting a tech job at the hospital with no experience may be a tricky proposition but theres tons of places around campus where she can get her foot in the door.

ETA: Also if she enrolls, theres shadowing programs and opportunities available for pre-health students through the pre-health professions program where she could at least get involved at that level.

Had a buddy that was a Pi Kapp I believe at USA. Went to a party at their house years ago. It was a nice frat house for a small school if I recall correctly
