Former Super Bowl champion coach Jon Gruden might be going back to Tennessee after all — at least for one day. Top247 junior quarterback Sheriron Jones of Rancho Verde High School in Moreno Valley, Calif., indicated Wednesday night in an interview with 247Sports that Gruden, a former Tennessee graduate assistant, might be involved in one of the Vols' camps this summer.

Details of Gruden's possible appearance remain unclear, but Tennessee coach Butch Jones' staff added a one-day quarterback camp on June 7 to its camp schedule for this year. Gruden, who's now an analyst for ESPN's Monday Night Football, was a graduate assistant at Tennessee in 1985-86 under former coach Johnny Majors.

Because they got closer to landing him than the rest of the SEC wants to believe.

Or at least thats what they think.

I can't see him being much better of a pick than any other former NFL coach. His record isn't that great. His only super bowl was won in his first year with Tampa with someone elses team. He did not 'retire', he was fired.

Yeah, for a QB guru he sure had some shitty QBs in Tampa.

People overrate him because of his Chucky persona, plus we forget how his career in TB kind of fizzled out.

He does deserve some credit for helping to build that Oakland SB team, and the resurgence of Rich Gannon at the end of his career

If he used someone else's team to win the superbowl...then was it "his team" that he beat?

Apparently he was/is the one chance they think they have to relevancy. Gruden is the white wale of Tennessee football. There was never a chance he was going to Knoxville but it was amusing to watch the Tenn fans thinking that Butch Jones was a ruse right up till the announcement.

Yes and he should get credit for building up Oakland as well. You can't discredit any Super bowl or National Championship, but some of that credit is due to the guy who put that team together.
