I'll be up front by saying that I think that Alabama is dirty in their recruiting. But, I think that LSU is too and so is every major SEC school that is trying. So, I am not throwing stones.

As for the car thing, let me also say that accusing Alabama boosters or anyone else related to the university of buying cars for players is kind of ridiculous. And, unnecessary.

Why couldn't the player's parents lease a Charger for their son for 3 years at around $200 a month? If the dealership wants to give the low interest rate and have the Alabama football player advertise their dealership for them, then what does that have to do with Alabama, per se?

Lots of families could afford a car like that for their college son. Especially when they firmly believe that he will be a 1st round draft pick in 3 years. So, they lease it for him now and he pays them back later. In the mind of a parent of a 4 or 5 star football player for Alabama it makes perfect sense, even if they have to sacrifice so that their son can have a nice ride while in school.

Leasing these cars for 3 years/36K miles is really not that expensive if the dealership works with you. The dealership has every incentive to work with these families and the families have every reason to bless their son.

I do not see where the scandal is.

That's because you're an LSU Tiger and not an Auburn Tiger.

It's okay, dude. Let them be racists. We all know black people can't afford a new car.

No, I am Alatiger, LSU fan to the extreme who is suffering in exile in Alabama because of my job.

Lover of the Purple and Gold.

Native of Louisiana.

Son and Grandson of Louisianians.

Hater of all things Crimson with a script A on it.

Constant critic of Saban and the Crimson Tide.

Still angry over 1/9/12.

But, having said all of that, thinking that Alabama is buying cars for these kids is unnecessary and most likely wrong. I am happy to criticize, but let's do it over stuff that matters.

Like Saban telling a reporter to kiss his arse.

No most black players can not afford new chargers but they all have them.

Everyone knows Alabama has bag men. Don't worry, NCAA is too much of a bitch to do anything until y'all start lossing a lot.

So every black player has a Dodge Charger now...

You got a link to that?

Well, that really isn't true. Black families can afford $200 a month. All over Alabama there are black families driving around in nice cars. You can even go through bad neighborhoods and see nice cars.

But, the idea that all black families are poor is just wrong.

Also, the idea that even poor families won't come up with $200 a month to lease a Charger is also wrong.

They might be house poor, never take a vacation, and have no money in the bank, but they will have a nice car for their son.

Why is that so hard to believe?

I have read an interview where Julio Jones talks about his mom working at Kentucky Fried Chicken. It is probably not racist to think someone of that financial background probably could not afford very much

Former #1 recruit that will likely be a millionaire in less than 4 years can't lease a car?

Majority of these guys also have insurance coverage in case a major injury ruins their career.

Ok but saban still has bag men. If you deny this you may just be retarded.

Wouldn't that be a violation of NCAA rules? And if Alabama knew about these deals and played the player, wouldn't they also be in violation?

Just asking.

Saban doesn't have bagmen, he just lets the boosters know what players he wants.

According to the NCAA any preferential treatment a player receives is a violation, and most people know this kind of stuff happens at any university
