Wow! That's one aggressive shark that guy had his mojo going for him probably why he is still breathing.
As a fellow spear fisherman I didn't see or read if he had a catch with him on a stringer line at the time which could be the reason for the sharks behavior.
I have given up a few grouper/snapper in the past when I drew a bull sharks interest.

I've been attacked by a bull shark, those frickers are fearless. Ive never encountered a great white, i'd love to catch one on rod and reel one day.

I'm going diving with the white sharks off of La Isla De Guadalupe. Love those animals.
I've had a "small" tiger (6ft ish) fight me for a stringer of trout the shark won.
I've been pulled around on my kayak by a bull. That was fun.
