There is no doubt in my mind that there are serious regrets in Austin over the way Texas tried to strong-arm the conference.

The true winners and the true players in that whole deal were the institutions with the wherewithal and stones to call the Longhorn bluff.

Congrats to our Aggie brothers and sisters as well.

Well played all around.

Texas A&M's divorce of Texas had a devastating effect albeit, some unintended consequence on Texas. First off, Texas A&M to the SEC put the SEC in a position of needing a 14th member to balance the schedules.
Mizzou had somewhere to go and the stones to move to the SEC when it seemed the Big XII might implode. As a result the Big XII is now viewed as the weakest of the remaining power conferences.

Already both Texas A&M and Mizzou are seeing the benefits of being in the premiere athletic conference in America.
Those benefits of being in the SEC relative to the Big XII conference will only be more pronounced as years go by.
Texas A&M and Mizzou's departure to the SEC eviscerated the so-called Big XII.
