Thompson. I'm sort of biased though. I like Thompson's current size and explosiveness combo better projected out a few years.
I also would almost always give the edge to a DL from South GA over one from NOVA, all else being equal, but some may disagree.

I would rather have settle for our style. You can never have enough huge fast dl who can stuff the run and still be disruptive and pursue

Thompson although Settle looks like a beast. Daron Payne has some nasty video as well. The thing I like about Thompson is he doesn't play like a Bull on every play. If you watch him on screens he also has a very good nose for the ball and seems to understand football as well as be an absolute force on the line. It's like comparing apples to apples with each being very good looking players.

I'll take Thompson, but I'm biased

I've honestly not watched any film on Thompson, nor followed his recruitment. I just know that Settle and Payne fit the 3-4 very well.

Bama starts getting CBs for Settle and want to move him over the number 1 player

I've thought Settle was the top DT for longer than that. Nice try, though.

I'm pretty sure they would fit any system pretty well.

When have you ever contributed anything other than their your blind homerism for everything Bama?
This thread is a great example.
To keep it on track it depends on how they fit each team. Some DT's are best fit playing DT in a 4-3, and others are best at DE or NG in the 3-4. All about what each defense does for you. You can take a sure fire 5 star DT at 6'4 290 lbs and stick him on a 3-4 at DE. If he's been use to harassing OG's then taking on a quicker Left or Right tackle might pose a few problems right off the bat. Conversely, the same can be said for a 6'1 310 LB DT that is better tacking up blocks in the 3-4
Where are they quickest? Off the edge or in the middle?
How is their sideline to sideline speed?
Some fit, some don't.

So current count is
3 Bama Fans - Settle for all 3
3 Georgia Fans - Thompson for all 3
2 fans of other teams - Thompson
The recruiting services Thompson on composite and all sites. Here is the breakdown.
Composite 247 which takes all services into accounts.
Thompson #1 player and #1 DT
Mack #10 player and #2 DT
Rasheem Green #12 player and #3 DT
Daron Payne #14 player and #4 DT
Scout
Thompson #1 DT
Mack #2 DT
Settle #3 DT
Payne #4 DT
Rivals
Payne #1 DT 5star
Rasheem Green #2 DT 5star
Thompson #3 DT 5star
Settle 5.9 rated 4star. Rivals seems to be the only one that has him rated this low and generally seems to be confused all together.
Espn
THompson #1 player #1 DT
Settle #10 player #2 DT
Mack #15 player and #3 DT
Green #17 player and #4 DT
It seems like ESPN rankings give Settle the best rank where as overall he is listed between 4th and 5th best depending on the ranker but gets as high as #2 on ESPN. Two sites have Thompson as the number 1 player in the nation as well as #1 composite player and he's the top DT on every site except for rivals which has Settle as a middle 4 star.
That's just a review but overall your still comparing 2 5 star players who should both be very good. All homerism aside you can't go wrong.

I just had the DT list up and he was listed 3rd. That may not have been the actual ranking. Maybe it wasn't in ranking order. Not really sure

I think Settle will be a monster, as will Thompson. Give me Settle though.

Putting Payne at NT and settle at DT/SDE combo with hand at WDE would be pretty cool lol
