Alabama and Georgia Gymnastics Rivalry

Saw the promo for the Sarah and Suzanne documentary on the two programs and their rivalry airing next Wednesday on espnu. Did a quick google search about it and couldn't find much. Can anybody help me and tell me why this was such an intense rivalry? Was their a specific event? Or did the coaches just not like each other?

Because Yoc is likely the best gymnastics coach in SEC history so they have to find someone to be her rival.

Yoculan and Patterson hated each other. I can remember them always sniping at each other with veiled comments in interviews and such. Yoculan said at one point Bama would never beat UGA as long as she was coach, and later that year Bama won the national championship beating UGA in the Super 6.

Maybe so. Yoc did have the upper hand in the rivalry, but man she was a count of the highest order.

Basically Yoculan was an obnoxious shemale with little grace. Patterson, on the other hand, has a legendary record of academic achievement from her teams, an obscene consecutive streak of Top 6 finishes, 6 national titles, and does it with an air of grace and class.
