Now that Michael White is staying at LA Tech, I have a question.

Coach K is 67 now and his presumed-to-be-successor, Steve Wojciechowski, is at Marquette. If Coach K retires in three or four years, would White's dad, the AD in Durham, consider hiring his son?

If he did, it would be damn near impossible to pull Duke's head coach even if it is to his alma mater. I'm not all in on the Fire AK bandwagon as I'm very aware how difficult it is to win basketball games at Ole Miss and I think he's done a fair job. But I would love to grab White because he's proven that he can do a lot with a little and is a terrific recruiter.

I wouldn't want to fire AK just to fire him. I'd want to make sure we get White out of it and I hope we can grab him before a big basketball school does.

No, it would be absolutely impossible and if any person ever considered leaving Duke for Ole Miss basketball then I'd seriously consider if he was sane enough to be a collegiate coach.

Yeah I'm not delusional enough to believe that speciousness is plausible. I just wonder whether or not he'd get considered for the job if he continues to improve that team.

I doubt it unless he takes another lesser job (than duke) before Coach K retires and does really well there.

I'm pretty sure he was stating that as a fact, not a question.

That's certainly possible if he takes them into the NIT Final Four, NCAA Round of 32 or Sweet 16 next year and a smaller big-conference job opens up. If he does well at that school for three or four years then Coach K retires, maybe.

I think we need to grab him first. He'd be a great, young face of the school a la Fred Hoiberg at Iowa State.

Haha yeah I love Ole Miss as much as the next alum but if I were the head basketball coach at Duke and was approached by Ross Bjork about the Ole Miss job I wouldn't give it a second thought.
