Wow, I should have been a mediocre college basketball coach.

What could Tulsa possibly see in him?

I always thought people in Oklahoma was crazy, proof no longer needed now.

this deal really makes Mizzou look like a stepping stone.

Can anyone guess what I think of the past few coaching hires but can't say on here because I would be banned?

It's what most of us are thinking but refuse to admit...

This was a win-win unless Alden tries to lowball everyone out there.

The last few hires have been shitty hirings, no more no less.

Quin, obviously had some problems. Alden should have probably dug a little deeper prior to the hire. We all know Self was the better choice.

MA was always earmarked for Arkansas. Alden got played big time by him, all the raises, and then getting hung out to dry.

Haith was a panic hire, who was always in over his head, and has leveraged himself a new deal at program with far fewer "expectations". Alden is left holding the bag here.

The common denominator here is Mike Alden. He has failed when it comes to hiring a basketball coach.

Someone should probably address this matter with him.

If you're going down the race road, you made a wrong turn.

They weren't hired to check off some sort of affirmative action check box.

They were hired because Alden thought they would be good coaches.

There is no loyalty in CBB anymore, not from the players, not from the coaches, and increasingly not from the fans.

The game is dying, and it's not because of what color a coach is. It's because of entitled athletes, entitled coaches, and entitled fans.

No, it makes Haith look like he got out before he got fired. Hindsight says he did the same thing in Miami. Sooner or later that shite will catch up with him.

Like it or not, Haith came to Mizzou, improved his resume, and followed the money. Sounds like Mizzou is a stepping stone.

You're right. I was under the wrong impression that Alden had the same talk with him that he did GP a year ago and where GP stepped up to the plate, FH didn't have the balls to compete and left.

Don't worry, he will. Aldens reputation is terrible among the top basketball coaches, rumor has it that the very reason he had to settle for Haith is because every coach worth his salt refuses to work with Alden. There was a perception that he was low balling candidates.

Do you guys really believe this is a stepping stone program? I'm fairly certain Mizzou could have ponied up the money to keep him if they would have wanted him.

I think the fact that Haith reached out to MA via phone, and MA let it go to voicemail speaks volumes.

Haith didn't resign via text message because he's a classless dick, he did so because MA refused to take his calls.

The door opened, Alden ushered Haith through it, and slammed it shut behind him. Alden knows he dodged a bullet.

Now the pressure is on him to make a great hire.

Not 100%. I think Mike Alden saw an easy way out of the situation where he had a coach that the fanbase hated, and he took it. However, it's not like the program is going to start going uphill from here on out, so I don't think Alden is going to have it easy from here on out. The fans are still going to be upset when the new coach loses. The fans are still going to not show up for bad basketball. Mike Alden is still going to get criticized for every decision he makes. Such is the life of a Division 1 AD. So, while this situation gave Alden an easy out, I don't think he has an easy road ahead.

I wouldn't want to be Alden right now, after this last disaster hire the heat is scorching this time around. His job is now on the line.
