Slurping, smacking, talking with food in mouth, etc. I go into a black evil rage whenever I hear someone slurp the shite out of their soup or something. Maybe it's a southern etiquette thing because the specific people I'm talking about are from jersey and west. Anyone else have a mini panic attack when people around you are noisy eaters?

I just want to leave the room

I'm the same way. I start sweating and want to punch the person. It's horrible, I basically hate eating with people because I don't want to get furious.
I think that it's called misophonia.

Yes I looked it up. It's weird because right now, just thinking about it, is okay. I can imagine people doing it and its not bad, but seriously the second someone does it I freak out inside. Like to a terrible level.

I can be fine and then, I will hear the one person at the other end of the table smack even once and I swear that it echoes in my head.
It makes you feel crazy as hell, but you just can't control it.

If it's someone I know I blow them up about it.
If it's a total stranger I just get up and move.

Loud eating, similar to open mouth breathing is a sign of ignorance..

They often have no clue they do it. I mean I guess entire families up north have extremely loud dinners and rip snort and smack loud as frick. I can't handle it.

I have an aunt who smacks like a pig and her jaw also pops,so I basically have to eat alone at family get togethers or I would strangle her.

If you ever go to a restaurant in rural Massachusetts on a weekday while a birthday party is going on You'll have a panic attack..

Which is why I eat at local places here in savannah. The lady and sons is sure to have some smacking going on

Get up, walk over to a window and look out..
When someone asks what you're doing, tell them "well I was trying to see who was outside slamming a truck tailgate over and over, but I guess it was just(insert person) smaking their fricking food"

For me, it's hard to believe that most people can tolerate slurping, smacking and other eating sounds. Repetitive sounds are distracting, too. Misophonia is a real condition and can be bothersome for some people.
Misokinesia, or the dislike of some movement, is a similar condition. Squirming, fidgeting, thumb rolling or ticks can drive some people to distraction.
Synthesia, or the mixing of sensory input, is probably the worst. Some people experience sounds when they observe irritating movements.

It's a horrible problem for me. I tend to try to isolate myself when I eat. I just hate getting so mad.

Wow I honestly didn't think people raged like me when they hear this shite. Actually feels good to know.

Yea, I honestly have always tried to warn people. I just thought that it was me until I heard Kelly Ripa talking about it. Now I just wish they could find a way to fix me lol.

My mother-in-law is a saint and the sweetest lady you could ever hope to meet, but God help you if you're a loud eater in her presence.
Loud eaters don't bother me too much, unless they're just being obnoxiously loud. Kids running around a restaurant bother me much more.

Me, too. I didn't know it was an actual condition until I started researching it. I don't feel so crazy now that I know other people experience it.

What's bad is once I hear it one time, I can't help but listen for it and anticipate it happening over and over.
